Every human civilization made god in one form or another. And this, in my humble opinion, is the true miracle. It shows our capacity as human beings to make manifest that which we create in the mind. Whether you paint, write, dance, build - the thing you visualize can be made real in our physical world.
What I personally find fascinating is the fact that all religious pantheons have connecting links. In the polytheistic pagan religions, the gods and goddesses have similar appearances and aspects. Which begs the question, "How can a human being living in South America, thousands of years ago, come up with gods and goddesses which are similar to the ancient Greeks?" Is this simply the result of the Jungian idea of the Collective Unconscious? Or is something truly creative and even magical happening here?
The same thing can be said for the patriarchies. The monotheistic religions. Look at their holy books. The similarity in belief systems is remarkable. Not the social aspects of how they express their spirituality. The belief systems themselves.
What is created in the mind can be made manifest in our physical reality.

No body made God. God is creator of all things.
In the beginning was the word and the word was God.
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light;and there was light.

out of the many possible answers, two stand out.
* God. As it says in many of the religious texts: God is one who is not begotten. As he/she is eternal, if it has to be answered, by a technicality the answer would be "God"
* Man. As there is no substantial / absolute proof to vouch for the presence of God, God - and thus religion, could be considered as man's best (or most succesful) invention! This is theoretical ofcourse, and many would find this blasphemous. but well...

Second time in an hour this was asked!
THE GOD always was, and always will be.
Any other answer would have to beg the question--then who made ------- who made God.

He always was and always will be. Quit trying to figure out something you will never comprehend in your little carnal mind.
