Tough question! Ranked right up there with the birds and the bees one. Answer truthfully. Tell her it's one of life's greatest mystery and trying to find it is one of the best part of living.
Good luck! That's what my Granny told me.

No one made God that is what makes God, God. If you are a person of faith, you might go on to say that all the stuff in the world depends on God to hold it together. If you are not a person of faith, be careful because God desires for little ones to come to Godself. Depending on the age of the child, I would also affirm that God made, designed, destined her and that her parents had a special part in making her. There is a fine line between truth and ignorance, so use wisdom in answering her question.

I don't know how old she is, and whether she will be able to understand a concept like this, but the point of God is that He is has ALWAYS existed.
The first four words of the Bible are: In the begginning, God. And that just about sums it up. God is ultimate and has been there from the begginning. Infact he was the begginning. He exists outside of time, so he can't be measured by it. It is impossible for us to understand how huge God is, and how much He loves us.

All children wonder this I think, at least I did and both of my kids, and my friend's children too. It's only the beginning of the questions lol, get used to it.
All kidding aside, the way I answered this question was to be honest and say that is something human beings do not know. I know it's hard not to have all the answers when your child asks something difficult, but the answer to this question really can't be any different than "we don't know" and there's nothing wrong with that. Children accept honesty pretty well and it's better than making up some weird story about it.

The first point to establish is that there is no evidence that god made her. She obviously doesn't yet know how babies are created. It's a good opportunity to introduce the girl to rational thought and avoid her ending up believing in mere superstition.
Mummy and daddy made baby and previous mums and dads many years ago, made god in their image.

faith is about believing...why is it hard to accept that he just exist period...it doesnt matter...and if you read the book he is the begining and the end ..the creator of all living thing and the universe.. your grandaughter is more spiritaually attuned than you give her credit for...the fact that he exist will be more easy for her to accept than you imagine...and for those of you who dont belive he exist youve got a rude awaking right around the coner.

Tell her the truth that god doesnt really exist. the same applies to satan, etc. Its a human concept made up to blame and fall on to when things are going good or bad. Its actually a concept of the business of churches who want ot sacre the world to belive in their makebelive. God doesnt exist except in our minds..........thats it...........nothing more and nothing less.

Tell your granddaughter that there are those who are made or created, and there is one who is not created but is a Creator. He that always creates things is never created by any body. So the Person who creates things is called the Creator, and He is not created by any body, but He always creates and creates. So I repeat, He that creates is called a Creator and is not created. Then He that always creates can never be created, but remains always as a Creator is only one person. So because that that is a Creator and creates things and is only one person and is called the Creator who can never be created by another Creator, and since the Creator of all things is only one person, So the Creator is never created.
