Because science is about fact; science is the observation of our natural universe. Religion is about belief in the absence of proof. These two things should never be compared with one another, it like comparing apples and oranges.

It's not exactly that straight forward.
Science is an endless quest for proof (getting there being half the fun), but the proof there is something different from what most people assume. My chemistry professor started out the second semester by telling us that we were going to spend the next few months learning why everything we had learned the previous semester was WRONG. Science is always and only our best guess at any given time. The coolest thing is how that changes with amazing new insights and technological capability. Can we prove chaos theory? Not yet, but wow what we'll figure out along the way to dis/proving it.
Some people who adhere to a religion insist on faith being the opposite of proof. I'm guessing (and it's well- and specifically-educated) that they are a small minority of the world's practioners and believers. And how many times was Jesus recorded as having converted someone by giving tangible proof?
It's just a small but vocal contingent who see proof and faith as opposed. Their position is self-defining; if they don't want to have a real conversation, we can't do much about it.

Actually, neither science nor religion gives proofs. Mathematics gives proofs of theorems, starting with a set of assumptions and following well defined steps to a proof.
Science creates theories or laws based on observations and intuitions. A well established theory or law will have had many observations made that do not contradict the theory or law and which match the predictions of the theory or law.
However, no matter how many observations are made, no matter how many support the theory or law, those observations never prove the theory or law. They simply support its usefulness.
To give an example, everyone accepted Newton's Law of Gravity for centuries. Every observation supported it. Now that our instruments have gotten accurate enough and now that Einstein's theories have pointed us in a better direction, we have a much clearer understanding of where Newton's Law works and where it does not and how accurate it is.
Newton's Law was never "proved", it was just shown to be very useful.
It is literally not possible to prove a scientific theory, nor does anyone intend to do so. But science is certainly incredibly useful.
Religions are based on faith and, as far as I know, specifically avoid attempts at proof, which is fine. I personally do not believe in any supernatural beings - gods, devils, souls, spirits, ghosts, angels, leprechauns.
I suspect most people believe in religion because there was an evolutionary advantage to those who did. They were better at surviving, had more children, and we are descended from them. For instance, people who believe in religion might be more willing to blindly follow a leader to death to protect their group. Or perhaps those who believed in gods were more willing to kill off those who did not.
Certainly the jihadist and crusaders of today are more than willing to sacrifice themselves in support of their beliefs, and perfectly willing to slaughter the "non-believers", whether it be suicide bombers detonating themselves in public markets or pilots dropping cluster bombs among civilians. To say nothing of the leaders who feel God is on their side with their "shock and awe" slaughter of civilians.
I also do not "believe" in any scientific theory - they can never be proven true and so far just about every one has proven to be "wrong" or, perhaps better stated - their limits have been discovered. They are, however, a wonderful way to view the world and lead to even better questions to look into.

The proofs are given in the Holy Books. They are of the nature of convincing Logic, not experimented proofs like in the Labs. If you reflect on The Signs, mentioned in the Holy Book, they are almost always 'scientific' proved to be correct by the known advancements in Sciences. In due course, the Astronomy may 'prove' The Sign' that there are seven Universes and the Earths like our Earth. Just wait. Sciences are continually being developed to greater and more truths, hitherto unknown.

An excellent question and points raised. The following is for religious people.
Who on Earth told you that God exists?
Did your parents tell you that God existed, or your teacher, or preacher, or did you read it in the Bible, or did you just wake up one day and discovered God existed?
Science doesn’t know yet if the universe was created or not. However, if we assume the universe was created, then it’s reasonable to assume there was a creator. That’s as far as science has progressed today. Some of the best brains in the world just don’t know.
Religious people don’t say we hope God exists, and we hope God is good, they state that God definitely does exist and then go on to provide a whole list of supporting evidence they call facts. So if science doesn’t accept religious evidence that God exists, when did you first realise God existed and what supporting evidence do you have if any?
Religious people should stop telling lies, and learn to admit the truth. Religious people don’t know if God exists, they only hope that God exists and the rest of their so called supporting evidence of God’s existence is nothing more than man-made speculative conjecture and wishful thinking – commonly referred to as lies.
So why do religious people lie? They do it for money, power and control of gullible minds, which makes religion evil

Thanks For Your Question :)
Well this is quite right in all of the religion except one actually
Islam in the Quraan (The holy book of Muslims) God talks about science and faith I think because they are related for example when God talks about planets in The Quraan he says : "And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating."
You see speaking about the orbiting of the planets 1400 years ago is WOW ! because if you are into some science you will know that the first one to discover the orbiting of the planets is Kepler and that was only 400 years ago !
If you wanna talk more about Islam or its scientific statements please contact me on abouterachess@yahoo.com

Oh my friend we do have to give proof. How is this for some proof. There are 25 prohpecies which were given concerning the betrayal, trial, death, and burial of Christ. All of these were fulfilled in one 24 hr period. There is one chance in 33,554,432 that all of these prophecies could be fulfilled by accident as given. You would have the same chance of picking a certain grain of sand (.005 inch cube) from a box 1.61270 inches on a side..
There are 109 prophecies that concerned the first coming of Christ, all of which were literally fulfilled. There is one chance in 649,037,107,316,853,453,566,312,041,152,512 that all of these prophecies could have been fulfilled by accident. You would have the same chance of randomly picking a certain grain of sand from a sphere 8477.06 miles in diameter. "note the mean diameter of earth is 7917.78 miles)
We have PLENTY of proof. Not many of us are prepared to give you who ask a reasonable answer. I hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Rob

Well
Because Science is discovered By Men
and Man Need to have Proofs to what he saying
Other wise his words won't be Trusted
because he is Just Human
and what ever he is Talking about is in Human Thinking Limit
so he need to help our brains to see where he coming from
Religion It Comes From God ( I Mean whatever Truth comes from above)
Sometimes It Is Over Our Thinking Limit
But It always True,,because it always Happened

Science is based upon proof, usually of the physical world and it's properties. Religion is experiential, within the spiritual world. It's like trying to prove that love exists. No physical properties to support it, but everyone knows that it is a reality.

Two different disciplines, two different ways of "proving". Science proves a theory as valid by testing, retesting, observation and falsification. Proving the truth of a particular faith is by "legal" methodology, that is, laying out the evidence and see which way the balance tilts.
