Definitely Columbus Day. First of all - he didn't even discover America. Secondly - he was pretty much a total creep. He cheated on his wife, reneged on his promise to give a reward to the first person who spotted land, treated the natives he encountered with cruelty, and spread European diseases throughout the "New World". Not the kind of person you celebrate - much less have an entire national holiday for! Before you know it we will start honoring other dubious historical figures. Lord help us if Congress ever enacts a "George Bush Day".

I think it's "Sweetest Day". It's only celebrated in certain parts of the United States.

It started out really noble and nice. It was originally created as a day where people would give candy and small presents to orphans and others in dire straits.

Nowadays it's just another day to buy a card, flowers, gifts, and candy and boost the revenues of these businesses.

I think Arbor Day is pretty special. A day set outside to celebrate trees and nature...that should be done everyday.

But, that's a celebration day. Of all of the major holidays, none of them are stupid; some of them are weird, but they all serve their purpose. Saying that, Thanksgiving--which celebrates the Pilgrims' compact with the native Indians--is crazy considering this nation's relationship with its indigenous people.

I would have to say I hate valentines day the most. My Uncle hung himself on Valentines day! so I associate it with death & family misery.
I must admit days like Labor day tick mre off because at least were I live there are no busses which cuts me off from even being able to do anything fun with the day like see a movie or anything I can't walk to. Booooring so I'm spending Labor day scrubbing my floors & trying to clean upholstery. Oh goody.

I have to agree with spider who said Columbus day, since Christophe Columb did NOT discover America, the Vikings did. Amerigo Vespusi got the last laugh though. He was Columbus's map maker, and named the continent after himself.

Christmas....cuz that isnt the real birthday for Jesus, and people dont even celebrate that day being about Jesus. Its about shopping, and what you get, how much you got, and eating. I have yet to see anyone I have met, celebrate the birth of Jesus. And what in the world does santa claus, have to do with Jesus? Which brings me to Easter, another holiday, associated with Jesus, and people decorate eggs, and hide them, and there is an Easter bunny. Oh my goodness, this is bizarre!

Non-holiday holidays, where we acknowledge them, but do nothing about them.

Flag Day is mis-used, as we do nothing with it. They why is it on the calendar? Same with Arbor Day and Earth Day
