How important do you feel organized religion is. Is it possible, do you think that maybe the churches are misleading with the information they give you? Do you think that maybe the solitary practice of your religion would give you more insight on your spiritual journey?

My father-in-law told me NO alcohol at my wedding!!! I argued to the point of almost eloping. When I asked him about Jesus drinking wine as mentioned in the Bible, his reply was: "Jesus never drank wine, it was grape juice back in those times, they just called it wine."

I'm not bashing on anyone or their religion. I don't care what your religion is, tell me why I should believe you over reason or anything else. If it has to do with blind faith, that doesn't count because your faith and everyone else's has no bearing on my life at all. I don't want to hear how it will make me happier, I don't care, I only care about the truth. If you are going to give a quote from your religious text then you better back it up because without backing evidence it is just religious propaganda and I don't care who they say wrote the book because I didn't see them write it.

If you think that an ancient piece of a boat a flood evidence proves it then think about how this proves your religion and not just a localized flood and a piece of a boat. I really want to hear a reason why I should have religion. Personal experience is hard to accept because you could be lying, crazy, or just perceived it totally wrong because of hopefulness.

Remember the jealousy of the sorriest of your high school contemporaries? Some beatniks or "L's" took it in stride, didnt blame the system, just busted their butt in college and worked out in the gym to later get the "last laugh".

But, then there were the others. Those that continued to wear the chip on the shoulder, blaming the system or God or the world for the cruel and unfair result...they didnt get the girl.

Havent I just given the profile of religious prophets? Killjoys who, because they couldnt compete well in the darwinian reality of life, created a religion to try and change the probablities.

See, religion tries to reverse the darwinian equation...all this guilting of sex and parroted cliches about "inner beauty" and the outside doesnt matter.

I used to go to a big chruch. The super nice guy who was deemed "super spirtual" but wasnt attractive got lip service and no girlfriend. Whereas people like me got the girl despite my badboy rap.

In your opinion, what were the worst and best decades of the 20th century? Obviously, this is subjective. Duh. I know.
I just want to know what you think.

I think the 80s were the worst (how embarrassing that I was born in them! lol)
The 80s were a terrrible time - crime, poverty, AIDS, Reagan, terrible terrible clothes and music

I think the 60s were the best. But I also like the 30s and 40s.

Even though the Great Depression and World War 2 were hard times, I think people then had a lot of courage and dignity and honor, and I think a lot of great intellectual thought and culture came out of that period (jazz, swing, modern art, etc)

In many countries in the MIddle East, if you do not believe in their religion, you can get the death penalty. But in the United States, we have the first Amendment. It guarantees the freedom of speech, but it also does more than that. It also give every American the freedom of press and freedom of religion. I think that the fredom of religion is what ticks of all those dumba s s terrorists. To them, if we dont believe in their god, then we deserve to die for that reason.

Anyone agree/disagree?

I just feel sorry for all the non-Christians in the world and the oddball Christians too. I mean oddballs like the Catholics, the Mormons, the Seventh Day Adventists, the Jehovah Witnesses, etc. You know the ones I'm talking about. If only all of them could see the light of Jesus and experience the grace and forgiveness of God like we have. Then we could all be glory bound!

But my brother retorted by saying I'm a liar, a manipulator a materialsit..basically describing me as a ***** but not saying it. My mum did not defend him. I said nothing.
