Yes I think that religions are the cause of a majority of evils as there are so many forms of religion and people fight trying to prove that there religion is the one people should follow. So in saying and proving they are religious they are in-fact causing suffering and pain on others how can that be good ?
However i think greed & envy is the main cause of evil everyone wants materials items and most want them quickly and easily so i dont think that money is the cause.

Religion is the single greatest cause of murder in history, including war. Where as money is not the root of evil , it is the person who is evil and has money to spread evil that is the root.

Allie is right it is the desire for power that is the root of evil. Money and religion are just the means by which some people gain power

The love of money is the root of all evil. Yes there are some people who call themselves Christians who do evil things. But there are plenty of people who profess no religion who do evil things too.

No. Evil people are at the root of evil. It's not the money, but what people do with the money. It's not religion, but what people do in the name of their religion. That's like saying "guns kill people", when it's really people who kill people.

I think that lust for power is the root of all evil, and that money and religion are two of the easiest things people can use to obtain the power they want.

No the Love of money is the root of all evil
Religion is the scapegoat that evil people use for doing evil.
People who claim to do evil in Gods name are not doing God's will.

No. Evil is rooted in human nature. Too much aggression, too much fear, too much neglect. If religion and money disappeared from our concepts tomorrow, there would still be evil people in the world.

Nope.
The root of all evil is found in interaction with other people. People on their own tend to be fine, people influenced by or interacting with other people tend to be R-soles. Advanced communication is not a natural thing, and so it messes people up interacting with other people because this facility exists.
In a nutshell, lying is the root of all evil.
