In many countries in the MIddle East, if you do not believe in their religion, you can get the death penalty. But in the United States, we have the first Amendment. It guarantees the freedom of speech, but it also does more than that. It also give every American the freedom of press and freedom of religion. I think that the fredom of religion is what ticks of all those dumba s s terrorists. To them, if we dont believe in their god, then we deserve to die for that reason.

How can you buy into that "they hate our freedom" propoganda. That's all just an excuse so people don't have to deal what the real issues are.

When you meet someone who says "I hate America" what is your first response? Do you act defensive and try to ascribe excuses as to why they would hate you? Or would you treat them as real people and try to find out why they feel that way so that you might be able to make your society a better place?

20-30 years ago it was the soviets that were the ones that were the main target (if you exclude Israel). Not much freedoms there at that time. They hated them for their atheism as well as their imperial control of the republics.

No it isn't a matter of if you don't believe in their religion you get the death penalty. However, if you convert from Islam then you can get the death penalty in some places. If you're a Christian or a Jew then you're protected under Sharia law (or at least it's meant to be, laws can't really stop someone offing you). If you're not Christian or Jewish then it's open to interpretation so you might have some problems.
"Encouragement" by the sword is inherent in Islam, but nowadays this is rarely practised, 'cause it doesn't really work with the current political climate of the world being what it is.

No they don't hate America because it's a Christian country. Lebanon has a comparable Christian population. They don't hate the Lebanese (Though there still is some unpleasantness). Armenia is Christian, there was the genocide a century ago, but they're not hated now.

I'm a Christian, I've lived in Muslim countries and haven't been hated because of it. I wasn't considered an infidel. They may have thought I was confused but definitely not an infidel.

There are places that are more free than America, so why aren't they hated more? France for example isn't hated that much at all. Quite on the contrary, for the first time in history the french actually despise someone (America) more than they do the British.

I mean c'mon. do you really think the terrorists are aware of what your first amendment is? no. They only know what their countries experience is with America and freedom has nothing to do with it.

With a little tweaking you may have it. Islamic countries do not hate the U.S., the Shi'a do. The U.S. embodies everything that is evil in their eyes, including support and trade with Israel. The rest of the Muslims, which is the majority, are the Sunni. While both factions are deeply religious, the Shi'a take their beliefs beyond what the Qur'an says. This is where we get the rumors of "kill the infidel". Their hatred goes into politics, religion, and freedom; only more of what we do with our freedom as opposed to freedom itself. Face it, the U.S. is not the most moral country around, we're not bad but not great. The issue goes deeper; but, that is pretty much the meat of it.

Ameri-girls got it right. It's not so much the freedom issue, but the fact that the U.S. is a Christian country by majority, so the terrorists consider them infidels. They are instructed to hate and eliminate infidels. Religion -- it tears the world apart. It's sad.
