In your opinion, what were the worst and best decades of the 20th century? Obviously, this is subjective. Duh. I know.
I just want to know what you think.

I think the 80s were the worst (how embarrassing that I was born in them! lol)
The 80s were a terrrible time - crime, poverty, AIDS, Reagan, terrible terrible clothes and music

I think the 60s were the best. But I also like the 30s and 40s.

Even though the Great Depression and World War 2 were hard times, I think people then had a lot of courage and dignity and honor, and I think a lot of great intellectual thought and culture came out of that period (jazz, swing, modern art, etc)

the worst? 1900-1910-because people(workers) were treated as disposable machines.
the best? 1970-1980- because this was the last decade of "innocence", hope was still alive and the belief that science was to save us still prevailed.

The early 1900's were nice because there were few cars. That was a plus. The 60's as full of rebellion all around the planet. The 70's were strange...a throw-back to the 60's. The 80's were hiliarious and I DID like the music, plus there was still a bit of innocence. The 90's were terrible.

I have to say the 1940's were the worst because more people died in wars and war crimes that decade than any other. I think the best decade was the 90's - the first full decade without the cold war. Unfortunately 9/11 occurred in 2001 and things have not been as good but I do believe they are improving.

I think maybe the 50s was the best due to best quality of life that decade for the American people. I could be wrong but I believe our economy was flourishing and there was a strong middle class. Also we had a strong president who a lot of people believed in and started to explore space so there was a lot of hope during the time.

I'd have to agree with you there.

Lots of great inventions, political and social theory, and other bits and pieces emerged from this era. I love the music from the period - especially Jazz. Manners and style of dress were so classy as well.

I have to disagree with you on 80s music though. I love Bon Jovi, early U2, Bryan Adams, Springsteen. Mellencamp, and alot of the other singers then. Sure the clothing, diseases, and hairstyles were turning frightfull but the music was great.

I like this question - great question and interesting view.

The best decade was the 1990s because Communism had fallen and there was a window of opportunity to move the world ahead of stupid nationalism, wars, and mayhem. Plus it was a time of relative peace and prosperity.

The worst decade was the 1910s because the terrible decisions made during that era would haunt us to this very day, and cost millions and millions of lives.

40's was the best. It showed us the value of honor and fighting for something.

60's the worst. This generation is the worst in history. They are pathetic. The music sucks, and the politics was anti American. People from the 60's make me sick.

The 40s was great. Sure, there was war, but the American dream was alive and the people had hope and great fashion sense. The 80s was just weird...
