When you do a pirate accent . . .does it ever turn into a farmer's one?

There's a reason for this, & his name was Robert Newton. He played Long John Silver in a TV series & spoke with a West Country accent. Now anyone trying to speak like a pirate says "Arrr Jim Lad" in the same accent.

I separate the two by context... When I'm waving a cutlass at someone's throat they usually think my pirate accent is quite good, and when I've got my shotgun pointed at their head they seem pretty keen on Farmer.

Easy really.

What exactly is a pirate accent.
Surely their accent would depend on which part of the world they were from.

lol maybe not a farmer's accent -- but do you remember that comedian years and years ago - he would say "hey my little chick-a-dee" i think sometimes people go from pirate to hey my little chick-a-dee-- but thats justme -cute question it made me smile--thanks

No, because you see the difference is that pirates say arrrrrrr, but farmers say ooooo arrrrrrrrrrr. See that difference??? Easy when you know how!

Yes I can see why, all those "aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhs" could sound farmer like, in particular, famers from Yorkshire"
