Bibliolatry is the worshiping of the Bible. It happens when someone places the Bible before God, ahead of Christ, or ahead of the Holy Spirit. It is a belief in the infallability of the printed Bible.

It is frequently argued that we must hold on to inerrancy because if we permit anyone to question any part of the Bible, the whole thing is lost. It is argued that unless we have an indisputable source of truth to return to, Christianity will be reduced to a matter of opinion. I always thought Christians came to an understanding of the truth through prayer, study and through the Holy Spirit.

Of course the Bible is true and it is the inspired word of God, but inerracy is a red herring. The inerracy message is a thinly disguised version of "you may not disagree with me." The issue is power, control, and the right to dictate who may do what and when; to tell other Christians what they may and may not believe. This is so foreign to the message of Christ, it should shock true Christians.

People know what OTHER people mean by it, but I don't think it's well defined. So, this is stuff that is exclusively of interest to adults? Or is it stuff that is inappropriate for children? Or is it stuff that is exclusively UNinteresting to children? I just don't think the things we commonly group under that term have ANYTHING to do with age, intensity, or maturity. "Adult content" does not include real-life murders on the news. It does not include the dogs humping down the street. It does not include Presidential Adresses broadcast over Saturday morning cartoons (I hate that!!!), even though children can't vote or go kill the people the President wants them to... Anyway, is religion "adult content"?

God's love is for everyone, by believing in him and his only son Jesus Christ, you can gain eternal life with him. Is it really worth chancing an eternity in hell? Isn't bestiality a sickness? How about child molestation? All of these are sexual preferences not about relationships. All are about people that are sick. I don't want to sound like I'm blasting a religion, because that's not my intent. And I don't want this to turn into a place full of bashing people, so I hope I'm not being prejudice, but I'll be straight-forward. Why have Jews gotten such a bad rep? I'm not sure if it's something from the time of Jesus or Adolf Hitler or something. This isn't to be a religious bashing question, it's just a question from history and religion that I don't know, or maybe I just didn't study enough in school.
