This is actually a serious question, believe it or not.
A while back I had read a study in one of my courses about how the IQ scores of self pronounced athiests' were drastically lower than that of people who had a religious belief system. (not just Christian, before you go all "athiest" on me). The theory is having "something" to believe in, opened up your mind to absorb more information. What are your thoughts on this?

We are obviously still the outcasts of our society-being voted the least likely to share the average American's dream, or whatever that recent study was about that pretty much made us out to be public enemy no 1. But, when I see the frequent posts by non-believers on forums such as this, and the slowly, but steadily rising percentages of agnostics/atheists in our society and the constant closing of gaps in the scientific explanation of the world and so on, do you think the tide is turning, or are we just being more visible now?

There is equal evidence to support all 3. ("bible "is not evidence as it is a story just like "twas the night before christmas" just a lot older.)

Go to my questions and see the stupidity in most answers, and flat out denial of a fact. I threw some examples of why the bible is full of erroes, proved them ,a nd got either denial, bs excuses(remember the bible is supposed to be perfect) or condesending attitudes, some out right mean. This is why religion is not the answer to save mankind. Give peace and chance, put the bible and your gun down.

says "Let us make man in OUR image and in OUR likeness" so my question is if there is only one god then who is he talking to? Should it not be "let me make man in MY image and in MY likeness? Or is this just another of the bibles contridictions?

israel warns lebanese to leave before bombing Hesballah strongholds in lebanon. Hesballah forces civilians to remain without leaving because they want to use them as decoys, and gain sympathy from the world.
on the other hand Hesballah attacks towns in israel without even warning the people to leave, and even israeli arab muslims are killed.
i wonder who is more civilized? Hesballah or israel?

If God is aware of everything that happens why do we have to pray to him to do the obvious thing like save peoples live etc who are threatened with death or injury , is he watching what is happening like the suicide bomber walking into a market place full of women and children and only stops the bomber if some one asks him to change is mind and stop it ?. Where was he Sept 11th ?

EMO seems to be a common term and I don't know why it is used. Sounds like some sort of name calling? Just curious.

Let's consider Mel Gibson and the honorable man he truly is. The key word to that comment is man. As a man, he is human, not infallible.-Put yourself in his shoes. Mr. Gibson poured everything he has into telling the truth behind his religious convictions, and what does he get in return? Nothing but hatred and venomous backbiting from people from all walks of life. The personal attacks on his works, his beliefs and his life must have been a tremendous burden to bear. All of the attacks must have worn him to a frazzle spiritually, physically and emotionally.-Why do people of much less conviction care so little that they would denigrate him and his entire life over one instance that they themselves pushed him to?
I believe certain groups put so much pressure on him that he could have been consumed by trying to respond so that all of the traumatic experiences he has lived thru do to his beliefs caused him to lash out without actually considering the consequences. -Give the kid a break.
