Let's consider Mel Gibson and the honorable man he truly is. The key word to that comment is man. As a man, he is human, not infallible.-Put yourself in his shoes. Mr. Gibson poured everything he has into telling the truth behind his religious convictions, and what does he get in return? Nothing but hatred and venomous backbiting from people from all walks of life. The personal attacks on his works, his beliefs and his life must have been a tremendous burden to bear. All of the attacks must have worn him to a frazzle spiritually, physically and emotionally.-Why do people of much less conviction care so little that they would denigrate him and his entire life over one instance that they themselves pushed him to?
I believe certain groups put so much pressure on him that he could have been consumed by trying to respond so that all of the traumatic experiences he has lived thru do to his beliefs caused him to lash out without actually considering the consequences. -Give the kid a break.

True, Mel is responsible for his actions, he shouldn't have been behind the wheel. Also related to the drinking: When people get drunk they tend to say stupi shiite and regret having said it. All the crud about what if he had insulted an african american is all crud too. I would have asked you the precise percentage of American blacks who have been to the African continent or whose parents had or their parents parents had and how many could trace their lineage back to the mother country. Just as with this Mel Gibson / anti-semite issue, it all inconsequential nonsense that has been thrust upon us by political correctness

What if it turns out that thousands of years ago the israelites and their allieswere prophesized to be the cause of a thousand wars because they slighted a vengeful God or one of the Kings of the sons od David did so, and what if that little bit of information was removed from the Old Testament or Revelations during the editorial process? Or maybe that is what is in the lost scrolls of the Dead Sea Scrolls?

If that were the case, then wouldn't Mel Gibson be right? Ah, that could be worthy of research. No matter what you discover you will be much wiser than when you began the research.

Sigh. There is the Jewish mind set, then there is the rest. Look on the net, it's there!!! some of the stuff Mel had to endure from Jews when he made the movie about Christ. Why were the Jews in Hollywood and elsewhere persecuting Mel in making this movie? That is bigotry. Mel wasn't an anti-Semite. If he is now, i blame it on Jewish prejudice against him, hurting him, stressing his life...just cause he made a movie about Christ. Naturally, when drunken, then arrested by a Jewish cop...it all came out.

If Mel is at fault and must apologize, I think the Jews in Hollywood first owe him an apology.

How is it that Jews run the media anyway? For them to dominate the media, there must be promotions and prejudice in strong occurrence. You know, this actor gets the job cause he's Jewish. This script gets a movie, cause it's Jewish. This person gets rejected cause it's not right to the Jews. And why am I a bigot for merely commenting on an evil that is taking place in the world? They who cry "bigot" the loudest, are the ones to watch out for!!

I happen to agree with you. Some arrogant irresponsible celeb does the same thing it is in the news for a day maybe, but oh my gosh, Mel is the topic on major news and forums because he is so upfront about his beliefs. I say he is human and makes mistakes and I have nothing but respect for him, However I have none for all those people out there who cannot wait to jump on the bash Mel ban wagon. At least he stands for something and doesn't change his stance on things like he does under wear. A shame I think.

Please stop making stupid excuses for his bad behavior.

My life sucks sometimes, too. I don't drink and drive... then yell out racist and sexist comments. He didn't have to, either.

He did. He is a celebrity... one that has made some pretty judgmental statements in the past about "other" people's sins. He is in the public eye... when the public sees past the Hollywood hype, we see reality.

I do not think this recent controversy makes him less of a man... or any less of a decent entertainer. It, in fact, reinforces my belief that he is only a man, not the "super chrsitian" he has been made out to be. I don't mind that.

I do think, however, he should be somewhat less judgmental next time he is taking on "other" people's sins the next time the subject comes up.

All that "worn to a frazzle spiritually... bla, bla, bla" is crap.
I'll bet you are a child of an alcoholic or child abuser, aren't you? People who are abused or neglected as children often make up really great excuses for people's bad behavior later in life. You are REALLY good at it. Something really serious must have been going on there.

You know, I am a Christian- for reasons that can be discussed outside of this forum, I had issues with The Passion movie, but you are right. First of all no one on these forums was there when he had his confrontation with the police. What happened was between him, the law, and God.
He is human and will answer to God at the appointed time. Regardless of what his beliefs are and what he has done wrong, none of us, especially those who call themselves athiests OR Christians have a right to throw a stone and make judgements.
You judge whether you want to see the movie or not, you judge whether or not you want to reccomend the movie, but leave the man alone- You don't know his heart, you don't know what goes on in his life, you don't know who he is and not one person on here can tell me they have never made some kind of predjudice or judgemental remark about a group of people or one person individually. After all the media attention and insensitive people throwing boulders at him since this movie it is no wonder he's broken down. Waht is truly on his heart will be dealt with by his creator- in the meantime we should be looking at ourselves and correcting the things in our own lives that will be displeasing to God.

To say that people pushed Mel Gibson to behave as he behaves is utterly wrongheaded. Mel Gibson is free to make his own choices, and is therefore free to suffer his own consequences--good, bad, or indifferent. You can't blame Mel Gibson's behavior on anybody but Mel Gibson himself.

He may have a burden to bear, but if he is a true Christian, he has help in bearing his burdens. Mel Gibson's problem is that he believes more in Mel Gibson than he does in his savior. If he gave his will to his savior, his savior would direct him, guide him, and help him bear up under anything.

Mel Gibson seems to be an example of somebody who believes but who either (a) has no living faith or (b) is too prideful to let God work in his life.

Sorry, but me screwed up and people are canceling his projects in the 1st 24 hours of his event and calling for boycotts. We say things we mean when we are drunk or under anesthesia. They refer to it as truth serum. He just screwed up and cannot live the life he once did. He has made enough money to be set. He is old enough to have known better and what a great mug shot. Did you see it? That was so cool. He looked so mellow and weird. It was priceless. He could barley stand up for it. He looked so wasted. At least he did not kill anyone and hopefully he never does. Is he an Aussie? If he did that in another country he would never be able to drive again. America is forgiving about that.

Mel can go have a goat farm or a ranch. He just cannot make movies and star in them. People are done with him that way. It is just offensive to too many people.

People attack Mel Gibson because he made a movie based on actual history, and didn't concern himself with people's opinion. The fact, sad though it may be, is that people HATE truth. Especially in America. They accuse his movie of being anti-semitic. Nobody accuses movies on WW2 to be racist against Germans? Why not? They are villainized in virtually every movie ever made about WW2. It's a simple fact, that is in fact the way the Nazi regime behaved. The same is for the passion. Jesus' death and resurrection is the best documented fact in history. There's no question about what happened. That doesn't make people who make the story about Christ racist against Jews, that's complete nonsense.

However, people who want to hate Christians will find any excuse to attack them. Many people have many sins, and the public likes to hate them for it, even though many of them may have the same sins in their lives. Without Christ's redemption, all people are haters and wicked in their thoughts.

People attack Mel Gibson because what he does is speak what he believes. He is living what America is all about. Haters of freedom will always attack free speech. Not all of them are in other countries. Many live within our borders.

All has the right to speak, whether it is Mel Gibson or not. You may agree or disagree with, you may react to what he has spoke of.But non of them really matters. If people around him suppress his feeling and emotions just because of what he said, then no doubt they are loosing all other good characters in him, including his acting abilities. again if people are sidelining him or abusing him, it means they are creating an apartheid regime, which again is wholly unjustifiable. always keep profession and person apart. that's good for him and all others against him, because you may be in the same situation as he is, sooner or later.

All I have to say is while his wife and 7 or 8 kids sit at home he is out at some bar boozing it up. You'd think a man with his brains and money would have the sense to have a designated driver . It is just good that he didn't cause an accident and kill someone. MADD, why should he be given a break !
