I agree with Skye. I still keep in touch with many of my old fraternity brothers... the only way to know if a sorority is right for you is to meet the ladies and see how you click with them. Be sincere and genuine. Don't lie to yourself... if you find yourself pretending to be something that you're not, you'll only be unhappy.

Obviously, everyone puts on their best face for rush... it is recruitment, after all. Get to know some of the sisters from various sororities outside of the rush scene. Extra steps: Check the reputations of the sororities around campus. You could even search the internet for news about them, to see the activities that they do and learn about their alumni. Some sororities and fraternities are known for churning out top national leadership, and really look for ambitious members. Others are much more laid back.

You shouldn't join a sorority just because your friends all do. Trust me, your non-membership won't come between you and your friends, if you are close.

Remember, you will likely live with the sisters for a couple of years. It's important that you find an environment where you have fun and feel accepted for who you are, not what others want you to be.

Before recruitment check out the sororities on your campus online, most schools will have a Greek life page and many chapters will have their own websites as well as a national website. if you can't find them that way google the sororities on you campus for their nationals (or local website if it is only a local chapter). Go to pre-Rush parties and go through formal recruitment. Formal recruitment is a great way to choose a house , not only do you get to meet a lot of great women but you'll also get to see what their house is like (if they have one) and see how the interact. Be genuine, and ask relevant questions, and remember that you are looking for a sorority that is a best fit for you, so before you accept a bid think about if it's the right place for you and don't just join one because all your friends did. You'll still be friends even if you don't rush the same sorority.

When i rushed i knew my sorority was the one for me, i just felt comfortable around the sisters and really felt they were fun, genuine women.

Good luck, sisters are for life!!!
