My son asked me the same question. This is what I told him:
I hope you are never put in a position to take another person's
life. You don't feel good or powerful, it's not exciting, and it is NOTHING like playing a computer game. But if someone is trying with all of their being to kill you, your loved ones or your buddies ; then do what you have to do... Just remember that if you believe in god, you will probably be judged for it- either by him, or a lower authority in the end....
This is probably not the answer you are looking for, so let me just say in closing that.
1. No, I'm not in prison.
2. Yes -God forgive me- I took someone else's life.
3. I was young, and all I thought at the time was that I was angry at being shot at, and I hope I can stop him before me or my bud's get hit...

I haven't but I know a few people who have. Some are in prison now, some haven't been caught yet.
