There is equal evidence to support all 3. ("bible "is not evidence as it is a story just like "twas the night before christmas" just a lot older.)

Some do, but most don't, because of the fear of death. It really is that simple.

You are very mistaken. The Bible is not just a story and is evidenced by history and historians for hundreds of years. Even the evolutionists can only call what they believe a theory. Also note that in searching through that theory, there are some evolutionists that have become believers in God. We know that mankind just created Santa and the Tooth Fairy and have never called either anything except images created by man. Santa is a variation based on a Norwegian, Swedish or Germany (sorry, do not have time to stop and look it up for you) person who actually did deliver small gifts to the less fortunate during the eve of Christmas. Many countries adopted a variation of the same person in a fictionalized character. Oops.. too much time being spent here...gotta go.

The bible is at least a little more believable than twas the night before Christmas, since the people who wrote the bible claim it is true which the author of twas the night etc. certainly didn't. Also, there is other evidence for God, such as the fact that we exist at all. As one of my friends put it, if you see a painting you logically assume there is a painter. It's equally logical to assume that a creation as complex as the world has a creator beyond our comprehension. Also, personally, I think believing in God and a life after death is much more reassuring and much more worthwhile than believing that a fat man in a red suit randomly decided to deliver presents to everyone once a year or that if a fairy existed she would care enough to reward people for losing teeth.

The reason people continue to believe in God is very simple. I believe that it is an inborn feature in all of us. Let's look though at the Bible not being evidence.

It was written over the course of about 1,600 years. Over 40 writers. Let's look at who wrote it. There's two priests, a couple kings, a soldier, a butler, some prophets, two fishermen, a tax collector. There are people from all walks of life that were a part of the writing over a huge span of time. It's most interesting that there are no contradictions in all of these writers, both educated and uneducated alike. (if you wish to claim there are, you are welcome to challenge the subject, that's another question though).

Now look at what's written. There are many prophecies that were written about that have come to pass. Prophecies that seemed impossible. The one that sticks out in my mind the most is the destruction of Babylon. That would have been like saying that the girl scouts were going to take out New York City. It wasn't possible. It couldn't happen. Guess what. A few years later it fell. This was written though before the fact. No historical errors have ever been found in the Bible. No scientific errors have ever been proven either. In fact, many things that we now know through science were spoken of in the Bible.

See, there is a great deal of evidence to support the Bible, but now let's look beyond that. I've never met a person that thinks humans are the top of the universe's existence. People believe in God, or the believe in ghosts, or they believe in aliens, or any of a number of different things that are more powerful than people. We know we aren't the end all of existence, we know there is something more powerful than us. It's part of us, like breathing.

Faith. Faith can never be underestimated in the life of a person. Everyone has faith in something. Even if it's faith that when I type a key on my keyboard, the next letter will come up. Faith in science that hasn't been discovered yet is common in atheists, faith in spiritual powers for witches, faith in God or in gods for many religions. We all have faith in something.

Finally, there is the fear factor. No, not the show. The fear that there MIGHT be a God is enough for people to err on the side of caution. If you don't believe in the tooth fairy, you don't fear that she is gonna come and stab your eyes out in your sleep (if you do, well... go get some therapy). We don't fear that because we don't believe in Santa that his elves are going to come steal our houses or crazy stuff like that. God, on the other hand, is not a figure dressed in fairy wings nor does he carry a bag full of toys over his shoulder. He is the creator of the universe, with ultimate authority over all things. It's not a joke, it's not meant to be cute. There is nothing more serious in the world than whether God is real and interested in the lives of humans.

So there are some reasons, hope that helps your question.

First off, you cannot compare Faith in God with believing in Santa Clause. The two are entirely different. One is a religion, a belief, to which billions dedicate their lives to. The other is a ficticious tale which has never been considered truth, because it is not. Secondly, you must be out of your mind to say that the Bible can be equated with Twas the Night Before Christmas. Clearly, you have never read the Bible. If you had, maybe you would never ask such a ridiculous question.

The thing about the tooth fairy and Santa is that the evidence we had to make us believe in them turned out not to be of the tooth fairy and Santa; but as we find out of our parents. Therefore we stop believing because we know what it was that gave us the coin and presents under the tree. Where as with God the evidence is still there and no one is stepping forward and saying "here's what actually is making the whole world go round." It is about "disproving the existence. And evolution does not count because it answers "how" not "why"

Wrong. The tooth fairy can be proven as I get money each time I put a tooth under my pillow. Santa can be proven because I get the presents I want, the eaten cookies, bells jingling, and more. There is no proof of god. Seriously, peoples parents don't tell them god is a fairy tail like Santa. The kids start to think, and are told not to question, but have faith. That is why they are so gullible. If they are not raised christian, they turn because they are weak minded, or on hard times.

God gave authors or profets stories to write in the bible so they could be understood for the rest of time. These stories are based on real events however some dont have the same meaning as they did back them. They call the bible the living story because it changes as times change. So in other words....the people in 2050 will read the story about the fish in the water diferently than what we do today. We dont stop believing in god because we continue to see his presence, whereas my mother stoped sneaking into my room at night.

I can only answer this question by asking you a question. Have you ever seen a baby born? I think if santa or the tooth fairy could do that then people may still believe in them.

Santa and the tooth fairy are what are referred to as " things of man" which God has no concern of. in other words things "created" by man. You can choose to 'Believe" in anything you want, it's called freedom of choice and will determine Where your Spirit spends eternity. God allows you that, He will not force you to do or believe anything. It is all up to YOU.

Parents.

Parents indoctrinate (brainwash) their children into believing what they believe. There is no reason for them to keep up the lies of tooth fairy and santa, but the fear associated with God and xtianity is well worth ruining your child's mind.
