Would you consider our society an over priviledged, over-entitled, boastful society?

And please give a couple of examples as to why you think so. If can. . .

I have to write a paper on social norms and I have to do something in public (at least 3 times) that isn't a social norm. For some reason I'm completely stumped on this and I have 3 days to write the paper. Any ideas???

I.E.: Trying to have a conversation with someone when they're in the urnal next to you, hugging someone you just met (or a stranger)....something that is not normal in our society.

GET CREATIVE!! I'm really excited about this paper!

For details, enter (Targeted Individual, TI) into your Yahoo ANSWER 'Search for question'.

Can certain effects claimed by many 100s of TIs around the world be detected, measured, and recorded. I believe they can be. Don't we, as concerned citizens of America and of the world, have an obligaton to find out the truth concerning claims made by so many human beings, TIs? I think that we do. If it is true what TIs claim about targeted effects they suffer, then don't we have a moral obligation to determine the truth of the matter and to have those that perpetrate such acts, appropriately punished? I think so. Then I challenge the mental health community to take the first step and conduct scientific based sleep studies on a group of TIs. Based upon my own research, I am confident that if carefully orchestrated, a sleep study would expose certain externaly projected energy fields that are common to most TI's, affecting both body and mind, remotely, from a far.

why are all the same mexican last names so big and widespread? I am Anglo and went to a highschool that was close to 50/50 (in Arizona)

Now its common to see multiple, say, "Smiths" or "Johnsons" etc, but there are also a ton of weird white last names that you only ever see one family with. Same for Asians or Black folks. As a "Carlson" my name is fairly bland but its still uncommon to ever meet another one, I've met 3 or 4 outside of my family amongst everyone I've met in my life

So my question is why do you see tons and tons of people named Lopez, Cardenas, Hernandez, Fernandez, Martinez, Coronado, Gonzales, Gomez, like so many Mexican people with not that many last names

If you took a yearbook from my highschool and looked at any year for anyone of those common last names, you could find like 10 kids in a row with the same last name, but they aren't even related to eachother

I am not trying to be judgmental or say that is bad or anything I just want to know why that is that way?

2.I have been losing weight (from 238 to 200 goal is 145
I am 5'5)
3.I take care of my mother and accompany her to all her
doctor visits.
4.I am taking classes full time this semester and work 30
hours a week.
5.I would like to buy a house so my mother can be happy
that I am doing sometime since everything else is taking
so much time but I make about 20k a year.
6. I would like to have kids someday, but I have never been
in a serious relationship yet.

Sometimes I get overwhelmed. I know I am doing the right
things to get my life in order, but sometimes I feel like I will
have to keep the intensity and I cannot falter. Or I should have already figured this out and shouldn't take love/career this long.

Could this have been a genetic thing that my step-mother had intelligent kids? or could have been they were "pushed", encouraged more.... I'm at a lost? opinions pls.
p.s. My step-mother and father were no (apparant) college educated scholors, just working class like my mother.

When you think about it, there's TV, computers, robots, cell phones, and machines that do things around the house for us. America's child obesity rate has gone op to 15%. They are becoming bigger and lazier. So will they care about thier past? Will they respect the earth? Do they care that global warming is occuring all around us? What is the fate of America?

Our planet can no longer seem to cope with the human race expanding everywhere. There is no other species so far spread from a single area as we have, and there is no other species environmentally unstable and unsustainable, as we grow, the natural world shrinks because we don't live with wildlife.

If there was a policy that every couple could only have one child, then in the space of about 2 generations, the human population would half. I don't agree with this idea, but if was implemented our level of pollution, consumption, and environmental impact would also approximately half.

And we'd take up so much less space, natural habitats could eventually re-emerge and we would have ample energy resources so that we wouldn't need more industrial development.

So should there be a new global policy, lets call it a license to reproduce. Or selective breeding (terrible but natural). Could such extreme measures be excused in such time of environmental chrisis? For future generations?

Do you think humanity deserves all the power that it has? Should we be as dominating as we are? Even our so called "intelligence." It almost feel's like a waste sometimes. Especially with death being so close aroud the coner at all times. And all the stupid things that we do and put our selves through. I mean why did we get so lucky to have all this knowledge and wisdom, but the animals didn't? Or that's what I'm told. Many folks say that were just "animals" but with a higher-sense of awareness and conscious and our own moratlity. . . Don't know if i buy that. But no point in arguing sometimes. This is a bit of ALL OVER question so answer what you would like.

I have about 70% of social anxiety, so this is hard. I really want the confidence to get up and get out. I want to be able to open up and not be so afraid that I put thoughts of embarrassment and rejection into my imagination.

We're having a party soon with a group of about 100-200 people and I'm being too shy to get up on the dance floor! I really want to get up so I can finally have some fun. Can anyone help me?
