Nope. Racism falls right in line with stupidity and ignorance and it certainly knows no age limit.

I don't buy the excuse that someone is too old to know better or believe that reaching a certain age entitles one to say anything that will hurt another human being. We are all accountable for our words and actions and I'll tell you, after living in Chicago for 12 years, I wouldn't recommend anyone of any age making a racist remark because some people become very offended and don't care how old the a** is they kick. Not that violence is the answer but it does seem to be the way of the world.

I work in a medical clinic and was stunned one day to hear an elderly man, a devout Christian of whom I had always held such fondness, make a racist remark. I told him I didn't appreciate it and it forever changed the way I felt about him.

There shouldnt be an age limit on the older end of the scale, THEY should know better than anyone whos younger than them, but that is rarely the case. They are old people that are so obnoxious it gives the nice ones a bad name. You cant excuse old people from hate crimes, it's still racism even if they're too stupid to realise it.

I think we can forgive young children though, they really don't know any better. I remember when I told my little brother to play with some black kids from a family I knew down the street, and he replied "No, I don't want to play with those brownyheads". He was really young, didn't know better, and years later is dating a black girl.

Are racial slurs more acceptable from an elderly person? I'd say not but everyone has to be taken within the context of their experience.
The people you are talking about have grown up in a world where racism was more acceptable and so they are more likely to be racist or to have certain ideas about groups based on their nationality (or religion) but not consider themselves to be racist. There are people growing up today who are surrounded by racist beliefs (towards Muslims, in particular of late) and are therefore more likely to carry that with them throughout their lives. I don't think that elderly people are any different from these younger people, they just grew up in a different time and have different bigotries.

I don't think that it is right to judge people for their nationality but I also don't think that people who do are necessarily evil. As we grow, we pick up conceptions of the world. If we've picked up negative ones, well, we are products of our environments. What we do with those conceptions is another issue. Violence isn't tolerated within our society. People who take their negative conceptions and run with them should be treated to a nice jail cell. People who have the odd negative thing to say about an entire race but on the whole are decent and polite are allowed their opinions because generally, they're hurting no-one but themselves.

there is never an age limit on hate. I would say that the "doesn't know any better" would only qualify for someone who has Alzheimer's or has other mental issues. Truthfully, we all know better and some of us just use excuses to say what we want. If we think we can say what we want and not be held accountable then we are sorry people.

There really isn't a right answer for this. We all have too many socialization, educational, cultural, intelligence, etc. variables. I think what is more interesting is how young children simply play together than at some point notions of status, race, and conduct based on views over instincts is a bit more interesting process.

I think never but I've noticed that my parents generation (60ish) and older tend to be more racist and they don't care what anyone else thinks. I think their opinions were formed before any change that came from the 1960's. Sadly, there is still racism. I find it interesting that my children are the least racist of anyone I know, maybe it's a change that takes a few generations to accomplish.

Old people should know better than to be offensive to anybody. When I first read your question I thought it meant "Do some people get too old to be considered 'outsiders' and just turn into sweet old people". I must get glasses - - but I still think it was a nice idea.

in case you look long sufficient, and confusing sufficient, you will consistently come across a situation like the only you defined...despite if i will might desire to envision up some extra on the subject when I get a gamble and be beneficial that it extremely is authentic and not purely spin-doctored to look worse than it quite replaced into. Racism exists, beneficial, and it consistently will to a small degree a minimum of, and interior everybody particularly...i do no longer care who you're. Human nature dictates that we sense extra delicate around our own form...through fact of this human beings self-segregate into neighborhoods, golf equipment, businesses, communities, you call it. no longer even consistently by using race, the two, generally by using nationality. the place i'm from, there are 2 varieties of people...Italian, and not Italian, extraordinarily lots the Italian young little ones all caught to their own form. So for beneficial, as a non-Italian, I had associates of all styles of cultures, races, and religions. My team of ultimate associates in intense college consited of the foriegn youngster who moved right here from the united kingdom, and the only Jew in my college, between some others. My buddies starting to be up have been black, and that i've got cousins who're 0.5 black, and we are all used to a minimum of one yet another and get alongside nice...yet placed anybody human beings around strangers of the choice race, and a minimum of you will get a sprint uneasyness, possibly even this uneasiness contained in this form of being extra beneficial careful and overly superb given which you're apprehensive you need to offend them, that lower back is human nature...this is all what we strengthen up around, and countless human beings strengthen up segreagated. i might desire to assert understanding some diverse human beings from a youthful age actually helped me. So base line, i think of blatant racism is extremely on the decline, that's good, yet there'll consistently be some undesirable sentiments around, and you will't legislate that. the days of "no blacks allowed" are long long previous, in maximum places in any case. If the bankers you pronounced quite did this they might desire to be disciplined...if their action replaced into purely consistent with race and not earnings or credit, in different words, if a banker gave a white guy of an identical or decrease earnings or credit status a extra constructive cost than a non-white, then it replaced into actually incorrect.
