When you are a child adults tend to make you feel like you know nothing, but as you grow up.....finish higschool......go to college.......they listen to you more and respect your ideas but I sometimes think that they fear you a bit because of what you know.........

The youth of today is more informed about things that occur in the world thanks to technology and other factors.

What do you think?

I work in a "professional" medical establishment. For some odd reason doctors are self-branding themselves with the idea that those around them, not on a doctor status, should be treated as a peon. The last time I checked, what gave them that status was a piece of paper called a medical license, which can be revoked. I understand what sacrifises they may have made to fullfill their accomplishments, but does it give them a right to remain on their "high-horse?" They're human like the rest of us, and they should be treated as such. Should I make it my business to remind them that regardless of their achievements, what they do in life will not guarantee them a better seat to Heaven than the next person?

Why would any thing negative or bad or intolerent said about the islamic faith should not be considered an insult, but a form of freedom of speech, while any negative comment against jewish people is a form of anti semitic behaviour? Why would calling the prophet of islam a pig or an evil person and calling muslims sub human and making drawings about that in magazines and announcements about such things made by important and well respected religious figures like the pop is to be considered normal and an example of freedom and deservant of no reaction from the muslims, while a comment made by an actor(e.g. gibson) while drunk about the jews is considered an example of hatered and anti semitism and unacceptable behaviour?
Why isnist, for several hundereds of years that the jews are the source of all evil, the killers of the christ , and now the same hate is directed to muslims .
If christians are the more civilized, more mature and less violent, why then all this intolerence???

This has to do with the topic of 'Communication,' and whether ones ability to write (& spell) is worth the bother, and as to whether we need to 'Speak clearly’ ...as in 'the ability to communicate with clarity.'

This might not (to some) seem of importance, however......

In a hospital telephone exchange, a Dr / Nurse tells me ‘H/She NEEDS the Cardiac Arrest Team for a patient that is ARRESTING’ (Heart Attack).

But, where do I send the team when I cannot understand the name of the place / department the other person is saying.

This has occurred a few times in my personal experience (to me), and I was only been able to trace the whereabouts via the phone number the call came from (because of my knowledge of the system).

This isn't a Question, but a Statement of a reason for why these things are of importance: though not just within a Hospital.

A 'Billary for a handthang' turned out to 'Battery for a wristwatch.'
(from an American)

Anyone care to add to this….?

I am now a college freshman, and I am Asian. I feel kinda awkward whenever I go to a party of white people; i am not welcome, and they don't really give a damn about me. And I had this bad incident when I went to a dance about a month ago; this white dude sprinkled water at me. So I am kinda reluctant to go to parties these days. Will I never be able to go to parties again?

One thing I would do is....suffer less about my meddling mother in law. Ignoring her would have been better than fighting about her.

I would also, have taken my single life more seriously.... Less dating, less beautifying. More reading and caring for my innerself.

The only results I can imagine from a more open and accepting attitude about these things would be greater sexual safety and greater boredom with sex (you can only get so much of anything). The minute you make something bad and mysterious, you make it that much more desireable.
What do you good people have to say?

I love Rosie O’Donnell… I think she is a talented comedian. I am a Christian though and was quite offended by her comments. It seems as though it is open seasons on Christian bashing by those in certain circles the liberal media. My question is this? Why is their so much animosity between the two sides? If I tell another Christian that I am liberal, you would think I said a 4-letter word to them. Tell a liberal that you are Christian, and they think you are a closed minded ******…how ironic?? If you knew me, both of these scenarios are further than the truth!! What ever happened to trating each peson as a individual?

I understand Rosie’s past run-ins with some of those who profess to be Christians, but I would think she would be able to recognize the difference between a good seed and a bad one? Calling us Terrorist is something that is unfair and really hurtful. I guess I expected more out of someone who is as intelligent and “open minded” as she is.

A recent study confirms earlier research suggesting that people who have up to 30 drinks per week are smarter, better educated, and earn more money than teetotalers. Specifically, men who drink earn 19% more than men who don’t, and for women, bar-babes earn 23% more than their sober sisters. Additionally, if you go to a bar at least once a month you get a bonus, literally. People who guzzle wine are the big winners, coming in with a salary around $60,000.

I think this disparity is caused by one specific segment of the non-drinking population that is so stupid they can drag down the average of 10-times their number: Right-wing Fundamentalist Christians (RFC). At least when a drunk wakes up the morning that’s as stupid and as bad as he is going to feel all day. When an RFC wakes up, that’s as not-stupid and the best he is going to feel all day.

Are there any other sub-groups that can match RFCs dead-brain-cell for dead-brain-cell and similarly skew the results?
