Not the obvious lucky, like winning the lottery. More like when they refer to something in your personal life, be it a solid marriage, healthy kids, a good job, a nice house, or whatever. I know its only a figure of speech, and most people seem genuine in expressing that I should know to be grateful. Sometimes, though, from certain people, or they way a person puts it, makes me feel like they somehow think I am undeserving of what they feel is my good fortune. I'm not the type of person to really let anyone's opinions get to me, but this statement always makes me hesitate a minute before I respond.
Does anyone else feel this way when someone says to you "You're lucky to ________."? If so, how do you respond?
