Well ,I'll act as the devil's advocate.I think suicide is not the act of a rational person.I think they make the choice because they have lost all hope,it is a desperate act intended to end their pain not to create pain for those left behind.I don't think the indiviual even thinks that far ahead.I can't imagine what it must feel like to feel so isolated, so alone in my daily problems that I would think that suicide was my only option. As a society, maybe we should spend a little more time trying to help our neighbours instead of saying they should burn in hell. When looking at euthanasia (assisted suicide) some people think that people should just take the meds and treatments and ive with constant pain. We won't let an animal suffer in pain.We think that ending an animals suffering is humane.Aren't we all God's creatures? Should animal lovers go to hell too? Maybe we should take some courses in compassion and understanding to try and make us more sensitive to the needs of others.

Chronic suicidal tendencies are usually caused by a hormonal imbalance, most specifically a deficiency of serotonin (the happy hormone). People who have a deficiency in serotonin are usually in some sort of emotional pain most of the time. Those who are suicidal have usually gotten to such a state of serotonin deficiency that they are in constant excruciating emotional pain; pain that is equal to the most horrendous physical pain you can imagine. They are suffering so badly that their natural survival instincts are overridden by their instinctual mechanism geared toward avoidance of pain. This mechanism pushes them toward finding a way to stop the pain even if it means ending their life. If this person gets to a point where they are truly convinced that there is no real hope of ending the pain, then the only true recourse is to end their life. Committing suicide, therefore, is seen as the only way to end the unbearable suffering. I have done extensive study on this subject because I have severe suicidal tendencies. I have found natural supplements that have helped my body produce more serotonin, which has lessened the emotional pain enough that I can control the urge to end my life. However, before a year ago, I had been dangerously suicidal for over 6 years. No amount of trying to have a positive attitude has helped, because the happy hormone that is released in a normal brain when the person thinks happy thoughts is barely there in the suicidal brain. People who have never been suicidal have absolutely no concept of what a suicidal person is going through. It is very easy to judge when you don't understand. It IS unfair to say a person is weak and selfish because they commit suicide. If anything, it is that person's loved ones who are trying to get him to stick around that are selfish. They have no concept of what they are asking that person to continue to endure. However, in the end, it doesn't really matter what people think. That person has finally found relief, and they are no longer around to have to worry about the negative attitudes of those who are ignorant to their disorder. Many people feel abandoned, guilty and angry when they find out that a chronically suicidal friend or family member has finally succeeded. I don't. I feel happy that they have finally found peace, because I know what they were going through. Death is a million times more attractive than living even for a minute with that kind of suffering!

I do think that it's a serious cry for help and its' a selfish act it leaves people wondering what even wrong and why they couldn't help. I have three daughter's who love me and want the best for me and I want the best for them. How could I say that I want that for them if I leave them motherless because I was in pain and didn't reach out to those who could help??? My children would rather I do some time in a hospital than kill myself. And I would rather also. It is also a way of teaching them how to reach out when they need help, rather than giving up. Children of people who commit suicide commit suicide more than the average group of people. It's like they have learned from their parents that giving up is ok and that if you can't deal with life than just throw in the towel. That's not something that I'm willing to teach my children.

well, my opinion on suicide is...that it's a selfish act. No one thinks of who it will affect besides the one killing themselves.

Another opinion is that it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I'm sure everyone has heard that there are more ways to end the problem, than ending a life. There is help out there..you just have to want it and want to get help.

When I attempted it I thought it was the perfect solution for me.
Now that I'm ok I can understand how much pain an confusion I was in. Trust me if you never attempted suicide you just don't kinow how unstable that persons mind is. They can't see a rational solutionm to problems. Some are hunting help true. They are the ones who fail. Those not hunting help suceed, sadly to say.
Just my thoughts on the topic.

I don't agree with it. I hate it when I hear about people doing that. But in some ways it is a bit courageous even though its a easy escape from the pressures of life that some people suffer. I wouldn't have the courage to do it. Like this lady said on a documentary "Some people have the courage to live and some have the courage to die"

i know EVERYONE gets depressed and may even be considered as having "Depression".

When you're thinking about suicide ... that's the thing; you're not thinking.

You're not thinking about anyone else. How it could just be a horrible domino effect on loved ones who you never suspected.

I use to be very suicidal but i've realized it is a horrible thing to do towards others.

I have no religion attachment so i won't even go into that.

Yes, it's an incredibly selfish act.

But ultimately, (especially in the case of excruciating terminal illnesses) it is a human being's right to decide the way they die. That individual should always try and seek alternatives like therapy and counsel, but sometimes, that is not the answer.

If you are going to do it; than do it do not put the people who love you through the threats of suicide. People who really love each other should not do that to each other! And if you are saying that because you really need help or just want attention than go see a psychiatrist.

I think that suicide is a cop out. The devil wants you to take your life. So he puts all sorts of things in your mind. You have to be realistic in life. You shouldn't take your own life because you are unhappy with it. If you are depressed and are always thinking of suicide then you know you are sick. You then should take yourself to a doctor where then can give you medication for this condition. Killing yourself is never the answer cause when you die you will go to a worst place. Suicidal people should pray and seek God.
