How much could a therapist make an hour if the therapist has an LCSW? What are the drawbacks of having your own private practice? How difficult is it dealing with insurance companies who pay most or all of the bill for the client? Many MSW's work for agencies instead of opening up a private practice, what is the reason for this?Could you also include what state you are from. Thanks!

Yes I can tell you that having to fill out your own paperwork, insurance forms, and insurance for your own practice are very expensive.
Usually anywhere from $80.00-$100.00 an hour is normal, but most of that goes to your own expenses.
You actually have to apply to insurance companies for them to accept you. Most only accept certain credentials at the Masters and Doctorate levels.
I am from Arizona.
