program yourself to be positive. try to learn how to find the comic side of life. im not encouraging you to just laugh on your problems and not to take life serioiusly but what im saying is that you should not make your life worse by letting your miseries make your life more miserable.

When i'm feeling down.. I usually go into my bedroom, put some music on which makes me happier.

e.g - Flamboyant Bella - Break Away, personal reasons.. or White Stripes - Hotel Yorba, makes you want to dance :)

Then I would get a pencil and a notepad or any plain paper and either draw what is on my mind or find something online which represents how I feel and draw that :)

Not only does it make you feel better, but it also makes you a good artist!

Wallow in despair for a while, then look at my kids and say to myself this is no good. I grab some grapes (natural anti-depressants) and find a way to cheer myself up, usually go visit someone that makes me laugh. The hardest part is denying the self-pity that you believe you deserve. Cause it is so easy to stay defeated when the chips are down, but there comes a point when you say to yourself no more. It might sound silly but it works. I have emerged from 8yrs of depression just by denying myself the comfort of sadness, by refusing to give in and always looking at smiling faces for comfort. There is no better joy than being able to say I have beaten it!

Check your diet! Really the one thing that poses the greatest health hazard to this country as far as emotional, and over weight people is the dreaded, "processed food/fast food diet". Recent studies have found prisoners, having changed a died from processed and red meat within 2 days have totally changed their reasoning and emotional levels. But, what should you do? Go to a happy movie, have a nice orange juice frappe', laugh a lot.

When I am really down, I think of all the GOOD things I have in my life, (family, friends and life itself). If you look around you there is always someone that is worse off than you.

Practice optimism and know all moods good or bad are temporary. I try to make my spirit inhospitable to negativity by making it unwelcome. All the same some days are better than others.
