Does it have a survival function? Is depression useful in some way?

I have recently suffered the loss of a loved-one; two of my (grown) children just smashed up ones car, and are suffering with injuries; my friends and other relatives all live thousands of miles away, and I'm having such a rough time dealing with all of it, I think that I may be imposing upon acquaintances whom I hardly know...just to try to cheer myself up.
BTW, I did speak to a doctor and a therapist, and am taking medication for severe, cronic anxiety. Any help appreciated....

I'm a girl. I've felt this way since I was young, and I'm not really sure why. All of my guy friends are younger than me, and I don't have any that are older than me (ZERO). I always feel like older guys aren't really interested in being my friend (from the beginning, when we meet), even if they are friendly. Somehow I never end up having a friendship with them...?

I feel like I have an inferiority complex kinda problem when it comes to older guys. Is there anyway I can stop myself from feeling this way???
I don't really act on it anymore (it's taken quite a bit of work). I'm very friendly to older guys and younger guys. But I still always feel like the older guys aren't really interested, even if they act like they are. Why do I feel this way???

At what age should I get married?
Question Details: My boyfriend proposed to me in front of my parents. I said yes cause I love him & I'm sure he's the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. He's respectful, he loves me, he cares for me and he accepts me for who I am. Hes 24 and I just turned 16. He told me he would wait for me. I live in Puerto Rico.

* My parents think I should wait until I finish college here in PR.
* I want to get married after highschool but not have kids(i would be 17 about to turn 18). That way me and my boyfriend could come to study in the US (he wants to study special effects for movies, he already studied here music engineer and has a small recording studio)
* My boyfriend thinks I should start my first year of college here, then go to the US with him and finish, and get married after I turn 18 on October 31, 2009. He really wants that to be our wedding date cause he thinks is perfect for the gothic wedding we are planning.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

She is always mean to me, she cusses at me and calls me really nasty things, slaps me, and tells me to move out! I'm only 14, and I can't stand her split personalities! Like at Church, she is like nice, and sweet, and friendly. She always puts her arm around me like she cares, and all of my friends think she is so great! I don't know what to do! She tells me that my 3.5 GPA doesn't matter, and I'll never be successful as she is! She is only a Respiratory Therapist, and she doesn't even go to work anymore. She thinks she's so much better than everyone, because she has a nice car, and she trach talks everyone. And she thinks everyone is jealous of her. She even tells me that I'm short, and I'm 5'9, and she's 5'6! I can't even stand being with her anymore! Do you have any advice for me? Thanks.

I dont want to be embrassed and I dont want people to throw stones at me instead of being supportive aka family and friends. Im doing this for marriage and my kids but I dont know if its the right way to go....

Ok, I had a dream that the Germans went to Rome and Russia and raped the females. The Russians raped the Germans during WW2. I was there the whole way, and I saw things, but I was kind of "not there." However, later, I was there, when I asked for a soda from a vendor, and when a random person commented on how my German was good for an American. In the dream, I was also walking along a dark hallway. I would occasionally see a Nazi/German walk by, and sometimes they would see me, and sometimes they wouldn't. What could this dream mean?

Last year, someone moved next door to me, that's my age and goes to my school. Before he moved next door he wasnt really my friend, but soon as I found out he was moving there we started talking more and more.

For the longest time, we were just steadily good friends. No problems at all. But now it seems like were havin some problems, and I'm not sure how I should act. Last week, he was being a dick to me all week long, so now I just avoid him and ignore him. The thing is, I don't understand what causes him to be pissed off. We'll chill, and be best friends, not one problem, then the next day i'll talk to him and he'll act like hes mad at me in a weird kind of way. Last week though, he was acting like this too much, so now I'm just avoiding him, and I don't know if Im doing the right thing. I just wanna be friends with him, cause were neighbours and probably will be for a long time.

Im 16. What should I do?

sleep, do nothing all day, have no motivation, hate myself, don't like other people, don't eat well, sick of people who thinks someone can just snap out of it or is being lazy, never happy, suicidal thoughts, and losing hope bc i thought things would be different by now, it's better(worse before) but it's not good and i'm isolated and truly dislike people, i've had alot of bad people experiences, and find myself happier without others, happier w/o bf, w/o family, w/o friends, but also need people sometimes. i wonder sometimes if it's better to be dead but i enjoy being peacfully alone/eating/walking. people are so difficult to deal with. i can't get over the abuse, i just can't, it hurts and being alone and resting makes me feel better bc i'm so tired/lack energy. being lazy is the way i survive, i have so much anger, i might hurt someone sometime but i sleep instead then feel better. what to do? what to do?

why do we create self-fulfilling prophecies in our relationships?

Sometimes I find myself soaking up the stresses.. tensions.. joys (the latter is not so bad) of others, and their emotional whims play like a radio I can't switch off in my mind.

Is it time to keep my distance when this happens, or to stick around it and figure out how to work through it.

I have to admit.. I'm a little too fond of running...

I'll tell ya, I work with some people that just complain on a daily basis. It makes me exahusted....no one wants to be there, no one wants to do thier job. They talk about each other...I know this is "normal" but I just don't get it. There are people out there who have no jobs, no money, no homes. Why can't these people just be glad that they have a job, family, home, food? No matter what they just complain.
These people just make me sad inside...maybe because I have 1 foot in my home and another in a shelter...you know. I'm glad for what I do have and don't think about what I don't have.
Anyway, do you think at some point these people can just get over themselves and open their eyes to the world around them. They are living in a personal bubble :)
