At what age should I get married?
Question Details: My boyfriend proposed to me in front of my parents. I said yes cause I love him & I'm sure he's the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. He's respectful, he loves me, he cares for me and he accepts me for who I am. Hes 24 and I just turned 16. He told me he would wait for me. I live in Puerto Rico.
* My parents think I should wait until I finish college here in PR.
* I want to get married after highschool but not have kids(i would be 17 about to turn 18). That way me and my boyfriend could come to study in the US (he wants to study special effects for movies, he already studied here music engineer and has a small recording studio)
* My boyfriend thinks I should start my first year of college here, then go to the US with him and finish, and get married after I turn 18 on October 31, 2009. He really wants that to be our wedding date cause he thinks is perfect for the gothic wedding we are planning.
WHAT DO YOU THINK?

In this age we live in, 17 is very young to be married. Other 17 year olds are just finishing up high school and either going to college or beginning to work. Either way, they are learning to live independently and make their own decisions for themselves. You will not find other married 17 year olds to hang out with. It will make you feel isolated. Being away from your family, you might also feel trapped in the marriage.
Stay at home at least 2 years and go to school. If you and your boyfriend are going to be together forever, that's not long at all to wait. THEN talk about marriage. It sounds as if he wants to rush into marriage in order to keep you for himself before you have the chance to try out your adulthood. You deserve to have some independence before your engagement.

he is a full of it and you should wake up to the fact that he just using that to get in to your pants.(I KNOW HE HAS) and you Think your in love because he does though things to you and you feel good. You won't when you have nothing and he is gone for a younger girl in the future. STAY IN SCHOOL. and fine someone closer to your own age . the only time it is OK for the age different is when you are over 20 years or better and that is when you might start to think of marriage

I think your parents should ask this guy why he would want a 16 year old child when he is a 24 year old man!!!!!Wait until you are about 25 before you consider marriage.
