Tell the dentist exactly why your scared. They know how to handle situations like that. They don't go to 8+ years of school for nothing :) Also bring an mp3 player and listen to music. It will be over before you know it. plus just think how good youll feel when its over xD

Fear of needles is a big problem. Many people avoid getting proper medical care because of this fear. Others suffer needlessly while getting vaccinations, needed shots or having blood drawn.

Fear of hypodermics, fear of anesthesia and fear of doctors in general can produce life threatening results when people do not seek timely medical care.

Needle phobia can be eliminated or reduced (Most people who are not afraid of needles do not enjoy getting shots but find it mildly uncomfortable). You can seek medical attention comfortably. Wouldn't it be better to make your medical decisions with a calm mind?

A type of medical phobia, fear of needles often relates to painful childhood experiences at the doctor or dentist. In order to overcome the phobia we must get a message through to the subconscious mind that though unpleasant, needles are not dangerous. You see, the subconscious mind has made a link between the sight of a needle (usually) and danger. No amount of logic can persuade the subconscious mind (after all how logical are your dreams?).

The best thing you can do is tell the dentist. the dentist can numb the area he or she puts the needle in real good and you will hardly feel it. And if it's been a while since you went to the dentist, they will first clen your teeth before doing anything else and look around to see what really needs to be dont. Not every dentist visit includes needles.

When I get a shot I squeeze one of those stress balls really hard, or just use your hand. Then I take a deep breath and think of chocolate and candies. It works for me.
P.S It will only take 2 seconds to get a shot, so try not to worry so much since it will only take 2 seconds

Just don't think about it, and I have learned that the more you do the things you fear, the less you will fear them.
I'm not telling you to go and get shots all the time..lol. That would be crazy. I'm just saying, don't worry Honey it'll be over before you know it.
