O.k., lately I've been getting a lot of "internet gangstas" in my mail insulting me for a sincere question I posted, and basically trying to put my whole life down, just because they saw one question on yahoo answers. What do you feel would be the reason behind this as a psychologist?

Because there are little reprecussions for their actions here, they are likely to vent out their frustrations on the internet, rather than in everyday life. They most likely decided to hound you because they either felt insulted, disagreed with you to the extent that they wanted to effectively bully you for it, or simply decided to randomly harrass someone who seemed as if she would give little opposition or resistance.

it's simple. Yahoo makes TOS rules for a reason. to avoid conflict, harassment, insult, spam, and protect our children. They made all the rules to protect the public as a whole. It's obvious that people want to be on here without being annoyed or harassed. So when someone who constantly post questions such as "who wants cheese burger" "who wants headache" or something that's not even a question but a form of statement, it degrade the value of Yahoo!Answer community as a whole.

People who violates Yahoo TOS agreement really should change the way they act on here seriously get a life before they make the entire community angry and possibly get punishment from Yahoo moderators..

I would probably need to know what your question was on YA before I could give you an intelligent answer. But just guessing, they probably felt threatened or insulted in some way, even though you didn't intend it to be that way. And then again, some people are just plain mean and like to start trouble. You don't have to answer the "gangstas" if you don't want to. Just block them from your email list. They are not worth bothering with. Good luck!

The question you posted hit a raw nerve. The person, or people, reacted negatively to what you had to say and retaliated in an agressive fashion - the nasty emails.

Whenever we take risks, such as asking questions, we must always be aware that we may inadvertenly insult someone.

Ignore the emails that are bothering you. They'll stop in time.

I'm not a psychologist. Its a manner of weighing things and balancing it. Ignore those people who you think are bringing you down. Don't be out, keep cool. Be confident and honest to yourself. They are strangers, put that in your mind. What you don't know won't hurt you. Keep going and good luck.

Someone took offense to your comments. Step away and look at what might be causing offense from another perspective.
