This can lead into a broader debate on the manifestation of sexual selection pressures in representational anthropomorphic images. I think it's quite prevalent in cartoons and caricatures in western culture and markedly apparent in eastern societies, ie. Japanese manga and anime. By contrast, dimorphism is appearent in toys and images marketed to children ( Bratz and GI Joe being extreme examples). Yahoo forums and other communal websites such as Zwinky tend towards neotenous avatars for both genders. Why do we subconsciously appropriate these images to represent ourselves, and in what situations do we prefer dimorphism, or alternatively, tend towards symbolic pedomorphism?

Sometimes I just want to fly away.

Hoping for a miracle.
Anything to save me from my past.

Locked up into my soul.
I feel trapped. Alone.
I cry out into the darkness.
And it seems its swallowed my plead.

Why can't anyone hear me?

i don't know if it is normal, but when i dream and i get hurt or something, i actually feel the pain. In my dreams when i get shot/stabbed or something i feel really sharp pains and i wake up and the pain goes away, is it normal? what happens if i fall of a building in a dream? will i feel that?

For years now, I've had friends and family members who smoke, and over the whole time, I'm 16, so for about 6 years I've seen my friends smoke (did I mention, they are the same age as me?) and am I abnormal for not seeing the "cool-ness" of it? I mean, I've tried it once and it left the worst taste in my mouth..ever! I can seriously not see myself smoking in the future, it's gross. Am I the only one who thinks smoking is just plain stupid?

I know an 80 year old man who is in a nursing home and his health is deteriorating. He is very unhappy and I think he is getting...demented.

He feels like his life is a failure and a waste because he didn't do enough to ensure the wellbeing of his grandchildren (which in his mind means disarming the threat of global chaos so that mankind and his grandchildren will not go extinct after he is gone). The uncertainty of their future is far more painful to him than the uncertainty of his own afterlife.

He is very knowledgable about the world religions and about science but does not have unshakable faith in a Jesus figure coming to save us despite our foolishness. Furthermore, I am not knowledgable enough to be qualified to challenge him on grounds of faith.

I really do not like to watch this happen so do any of you have ideas as to what I could say or do to prove to him that humanity has the capacity to save itself? I'm not sure that I believe it myself...

I use to be so afaird of the darkness to the point that is was paranoid but I decided I was gonna stand up to my fear and I slept with no light on and I found out there was nothing to be afaird of....

If the Majority of girls who star in porn have been sexually abused, and are more then likely suffering form the life long side affects, don’t you feel sorry for her? Anyone who has sex for everyone to see (and gets paid!) obviously has extremely low self-esteem. Don’t you think? I mean if you truly value your self, you would have some kind moral standards, and not have sex for EVERYBODY to see! What do you think???

Im 25 and he is 28, we have 2 years. We're from different countries, have different social economical and religion backgrounds, and live separately but we love eachother and visit everytime we can. We want to be together forever and we are tired of traveling. We love and miss eachother a lot and also believe that we're ready to marry. We're both professionals and have our jobs in our home countries.He proposed 6 months ago but after a while he doesn't like to mention the "W" word or gets nervous when our friends ask us: when are you getting maried?
I asked to him if he had changed his mind and he says he is fully convinced that he loves me and wants to marry me but he is a little scared and not sure about how to marry me, when, where, and other stuff. Sometimes I think that I put pressure on him when I ask him. I really want to know if he wants to marry me, I love him with all my heart but not because he put a ring on my finger means that he is fully convinced. what's wrong with him?

My dad makes damn sure I know when I do something wrong, why I did it wrong, what can happen because I did it wrong, how much I could pay for doing it wrong, and to never do it again. Now, I drive well enough not to smash into another car. If I ask to drive somewhere alone and come back, he lets me do it (unless it involves the highway during the night, which is a combination I stay away from regardless). But when he is driving with me, he feels the need to point everything out. My friends said its the same thing for them, some of them actually have it worse.

So, how scared/stressed are you when your kids drive, and why?
