I mean. These kids had so many chances of getting away and running away yet they didn't.
I don't know how to ask this other than...how does this happen?

who knows what these abductors say to the children and such and after awhile,not sure how long though i would think the Stockholm syndrome might come into play,more so with the smart girl and the Missouri boy who was gone for 4 years....these abductors can tell the kids they will harm there families if they try and leave and stuff like that

A lot of people ask that and it's just...at that age your mind is very easily molded.By anyone or anything normally.Their kidnappers know what they're going to have to do,and they controlled them mentally.Maybe they didn't even have to threaten them.
