Psychology - January 2007

I'm doing a paper on multiple personalities, and we have to diagnose a FICTIONAL character with it. I was thinking The Three Faces of Eve, but it's a true story. Higher ground; it's a possibility. I need fictional characters that have not been exactly diagnosed. It's confusing. Why can't I dang just do a paper on diarrhea or something!!!!!! Oh well. Thanks for the help.

The present is a result of the past. The future will be a result of the decisions that we make in the present, but we make those decisions as a result of what we've experienced in the past. So are we in control of our actions?? If all of our actions are just a result of our past experiences then what, if anything, are we in control of?

Some might say we are in control of making the choices that affect the future but if you think about it there is a reason that we make those choices.
I hope I explained this well enough..
So my question is.. What, if anything, are we in control of?

Say you've been alive since the 1500's, and you are still very youthful. How do you think this would cause you to act? What might you have learned? Would you have tried to make scientific discoveries or help the world in great ways?

my ex and i dated for 2 yrs but ended bc we always argued. as friends though, we get a long spendidly and a great friendship formed. however he lied by saying he was going to dump his girlfriend and cheated on her with me. i know it was wrong but i still had feelings for him. anyway... that was a looong time ago and we're both single and friends. he's very skilled in bed so sometimes we makeout, but that's it. i thought we were just friends, until lately he'd been putting my pictures on his wall and wanting to hold my hand, etc. so i told him yesterday that i don't want to mislead him or anything, and that i just think of him as a good friend. he confessed that he wanted a relationship. now he's mad at me and ignoring me.
we've hurt eachother a lot in the past, but... we were fine as friends. now THIS happens.
i really am happiest when i'm with him, and don't want to lose his friendship. i understand him the most, and i care about him despite the fact that he's mad at me now.
HELP!

How can you know what other person feels? And how can you know that you know?

Isn't it extremely arrogant to think you can put yourself in someone else's shoes based on theoretical knowledge or on "similar" (by your reckoning) experiences?

I have had several dreams where a man(no one I know, but in each dream the man is different is very very kind to me. He tells me everything I want to hear and treats me like a queen. I am in a basically loveless marriage now and I wonder what these dreams could mean? serious answers only if you know this kind of stuff

wake up every other hour sencing theres something nere me that wants me to give up. i feal it hovering over me now. IM not on drugs, im not drunk,and i don't think i'm crazy.my mother and father are in the other room i want to leave this room but i can't last night i had the weirdest dream.there was a stugue of an angel i'm not sure who though :( blood runs down her cheacks a cross is burned and nailed on her plauge (thats why i don't know her name) than the scean changes i'm in a field
a regular plain old field but than i relized i to had tears runing down my cheaks but they were..........black likke tar than i relized that the angel was beside me but in human form she had red hair so vivid it was like lightning than the wierdist thing happened. we stared singing but i also relized that the vocie that came out my mouthwasn't mine. or ..was it it was both beutiful and erie that me and evey thing aroung me wasstoped likke frrozen ice but when i touched it it felt warm under my touch

I work as a dishwasher and cleaning bathrooms. As tempory job sense Im a student right now. Sometimes people ask me why I want that job because it's hard. I know it's a hard job so what. Even strangers who go to eat there ask me if there treating me ok or telling Im to pretty to work on a hard job. It makes me think twice about how people treat each other just by there looks. Why do people assume this?

I'm a 55 year old woman who remembers at the age of a teen I was given some kind of IQ test and later told that I had a really high IQ. Of course I do not remember that number now. I have no clue as to what may be considered low, average or high as a matter of fact. So, I'm just a little curious to know if anyone has some kind of "at home test" that one might give themselves to determine their IQ? Thanks.
