I'm doing a paper on multiple personalities, and we have to diagnose a FICTIONAL character with it. I was thinking The Three Faces of Eve, but it's a true story. Higher ground; it's a possibility. I need fictional characters that have not been exactly diagnosed. It's confusing. Why can't I dang just do a paper on diarrhea or something!!!!!! Oh well. Thanks for the help.

fight club, primal fear, me myself and irene, and identity all have characters with multiple personalities. (also, remember that it's not called "multiple personality disorder" anymore -- the proper diagnosis is now "dissociative identity disorder")

In the mood I'm in right this moment R. Daneel Olivaw. I'm not sure if that would count as a him or an it though. BA: TBH I think the more widely read you are the more likely your favourite characters will be men purely because the vast majority of major characters in fiction are men. For some strange reason all authors, no matter their own gender, seem to be much better at writing male characters than female ones.

Sybil, but she was diagnosed with it.

In the 7th episode of the TV show Psych there was a character with multiple personalities.

As several people have already said, Fight Club.

I'm pretty sure there was an episode of ER last season where there was a patient with multiple personalities, and I think there was also an episode of either Law and Order or Law and Order SVU where there was a character with DID, but neither of those helps much since I don't know when it was.

Wikipedia has a pretty good list of fictional character with DID:

Greg Iles is an author who does a lot with multiple personalities and different "spins" on the old story. A couple I can think of right off hand that are really good are:

"Sleep No More"
"Dead Sleep"

John Lithgow in Raising Cain, a good movie with his character suffering from multiple personality disorder. Maybe you'd get away with using Jekyll and Hyde.

Karma.
