It's the status associated with people who have good looks. People with status aren't expected to be working blue collar type jobs because of their education.
When I was in college I worked a blue collar job and I got the same questions. There were probably opportunities for me to elsewhere and make more money, but maybe I was lazy and didn't bother looking for them.
At any rate working those jobs really made me appreciate my white collar job.

My daughter became a registered child minder (contact social services) and started a Pet Care Agency. Her first child care was collecting a little girl from school, and taking her home till her parents could fetch her about an hour later. Since she had to collect her own daughter anyway this was an ideal little "job". Then her first pet care job was walking a dog. She collected the dog on the way to collect the children and walked him back home again! Two payments for the same journey. Then she started feeding pets at their homes while owners were away and taking small pets to live with her over their holiday (caged things like hamsters, and cockatiels) She sold her Agency, eventually for a 4-figure sum. 2. The son of a friend started a serious grass-cutting business (Spring, summer and Autumn, obviously) with a van which had his name and contact number on it, but his regulars had him doing things like fence repairs, building a rockery etc in the Winter and this developed into a small landscape business. His grass cutting became not just a domestic trade but extended to larger firms who didn't want to keep a groundsman just to cut grass.

For the same reason that people think that pretty girls have no brains. I get it all the time from people that are truly shocked when I make an intelligent comment. They think that pretty girls should be able to get by on looks alone and not need (or want) anything else. Just ignore them and know that you're better than that.

Just do your job and don't pay any attention to what other people say. People are judged by their looks all the time. What really matters is a person's personality and character.

The truth of it is that attractive people will always have it easier, it's just a way of life. You should take advantage of your looks whenever you can. There is nothing wrong with a person using their god-given attributes to get ahead.

others do the opposite. especially my family, they want me to do the lowest job possible so that they can feel superior. my sisters have actually said, "your looks won't get you anywhere with this!" sad part is i've never done anything to them, they are super sensitive about their weight problems.
