I am an extremely frustated highschooler. I have a problem with overacheiving. I feel compelled to do my best on everything! I refuse to put my name on something that I haven't done my best on. With the exception of a few select things, like math, I always feel the need to give it my all. I also know, w/o sounding snobby, that my best is better than others. I know it frustates other kids when they see me do well all the time. They just don't know it's b/c I work hard to do well. It really upsets me to see kids waste their potential on stupid things and not give everything their best. Will I ever get over this stupid habit?

If so how did you deal with it? I am asking because i believe my boyfriend of 4 yrs has it. I am not psychiatrist its just that i have read alot of books about it and it seems like my boyfriends has alot of the symptoms and behavior of BPD. I mean one min he cant stand me the next he doesn't want me to leave him. He says awful things to everyone who cares about him. Its like a no win situation with him. He is soooooooo sensitive. He blames everyone for his problems. Yet he says he is a failure. I once told him that maybe he should see a counselor and totally flew off the handle saying i am the one with the problem. He claims nobody loves him and everybody leaves him all the time. Even when you do something very nice for him he quickly forgets it when you do something that he doesn't want you do like going shopping or something. His mother is fed up with him and doesn't know what to do. What can be done?

I can't cry whenever somthing sad happens. Someone could die, and people compliment me on how well I'm handling it, but when I watch a movie I cry. Other small things make me cry, but I can't cry whenever somthing really tragic happens. Is this normal?

I swear I am. My therapist says that it is highly improbable and doesn't think that I am an exception to the norm, but I do. I have all the signs as far as I can tell, but I perform well in school. He makes it seem that that just could not happen. I try to tell him that just because I get good grades, does not mean that I don't have to work really really hard to do so.

to me these seem the worst years of your life, if you´ve got kids, they´re probably teenagers and they say thatis the hardest time, you´re loosing your looks and maybe you´re even having your first health problems....being over 60 seems better to me...more free time, less obligations and maybe grandchildren...

I was just reading news articles on yahoo news like I do every day, several times daily. I came across this article about tweens, basically 8-12 yr olds having similar interests and behaviorisms as their older teen counterparts. I thought this article was interesting, as I agree with it's premise, basically that children nowadays truly do seem to be "maturing" at much earlier ages, like 8-12 as opposed to anytime before the last decade when similar behaviors were primarily exhibited in only teenagers. Such as sexual behavior, sexually oriented toys (brats, etc.), songs nowadays introducing children on the airwaves to songs written (or at least performed maybe not written) by artists like these rap songs out there that are plainly and grossly about sex and violence. Also, movies are more violent and sexually laden then they ever were before the last decade or so. Guess my question is, read this article... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061125/ap_on_re_us/teen_tweens
Strong evidence?

my ex was a complete gentleman to the girl he dated before me and many others, however me and this other girl were the only 2 girls he was a complete jerk to. what could be the reasons?
the similarities between us (me and othe other girl) are that we're both angsty, attractive, not nerdy (like some of the others), have lives of our own (once again, unlike the others), have been sheltered by our fathers and are spontaneous and bold. the other girls he dated are markedly vanilla and not bold or spontaneous at all-- they're predictable. so why is he nicer to boring girls and meaner to me and the other girl who are more exciting?
it doesn't make sense at all.
and the weirder part is that me and that other girl were his longest relationships (he and i dated for over a yr, and he and the other girl dated for 4 months-- all the others were either dumped within a month, or dumped him within a month).
even WEIRDER: his relationship with me and the other girl were the only problematic ones.

My mother and sister seemed concerned enough to call my other physician to find out what to do. Then I spoke to him and said I didnt want to go to the hospital. And he said 'fine'. But it was not what my family had hoped he'd say, so while I was using a nebulizer and gasping for breath, my sister phoned a mental health hotline and told them that mental issues were preventing me from thinking clearly about going to the hospital. They disagreed. My sister then made a call to get a family court warrant to have me evicted from the house I have lived in for a long time because I wouldnt listen to them. Now they will not speak to me, and keep saying that they are finding a way to have me forceably removed from my residence and brought to a psychiatric ER and half way house for not obeying them. My sister is a senior citizen and mom is older. Their behavior at times frightens me & I fear for my life. They share the same room Can they be having a mental breakdown at the same time?

I had to call it quits. I still love him deeply, but he has an ongoing drug thing. I do not do drugs and I have very little tolerance for them. But with him, because I love him so much, I have forgivin him time and again. But for my own sanity-and dignity- I had to let him go. It hurts, not just emotionally, but it feels like a physical pain also. I want to get past this. Should I find someone else? Should I just sit in pain for awhile? Help.

Do you have people, in your life, who tell you what you should do for a living or what you should do with your life, because they feel that you're wasting time in school studying courses to get an A.A. in order to further education?

I've gotten suggestions from relatives (particularly my aunts), and others, for instance, "Why don't you just study Nursing or take courses to be a CNA or one of the medical occupations?"

I had thought about it. I know others who are studying to be a Nurse because of possible job opportunities, and high salary. I feel that I want to consider other medical fields, since I'm somewhat pressured...

When I told them what major I considering, they started to question what types of job I might do with it.

Honestly, I'm not yet very clear of what I want to do with the major that I've been considering.

I usually get criticized; there are people who can make feel bad or put me down.

I want to be fulfilled.
