I am an extremely frustated highschooler. I have a problem with overacheiving. I feel compelled to do my best on everything! I refuse to put my name on something that I haven't done my best on. With the exception of a few select things, like math, I always feel the need to give it my all. I also know, w/o sounding snobby, that my best is better than others. I know it frustates other kids when they see me do well all the time. They just don't know it's b/c I work hard to do well. It really upsets me to see kids waste their potential on stupid things and not give everything their best. Will I ever get over this stupid habit?

I used to ask myself the same question, but I stopped, because I realized that I'd stop at nothing to figure out the answer, which means I'd defeat the purpose of asking in the first place.

You see, some of us like to be over-achievers because we were, in some way, under-appreciated. Simply let yourself go, and be you.

We don't have to be the best at everything, as long as we're good at something.
Even if the only thing we're good at is being bad.

This is a problem I wish I had. I am forcing my self to find my personal best in everything I do and trust me I'm a lot older than you.Right now you are in high school, so your slate is pretty much clean,. I don't know if you started working yet but let me give you a hint on somthing. When you enter the work force, look for an opportunity not a job . I am not suggesting that you do this but I found an opportunity with a financial services company and it's a chance to build a business with in the company.

I help people out of debt and get them on track for financial freedom and also recruit to build my business. there is a 6-7 figure income opportunity here and the people that do make it are the ones who over achieve. I do well but it's a struggle . I don't know if this is at all important to you but you can choose to focus on being frustated or you can get excited and focus on building your future and have an empire while your friends in a few years are 25 at home playing video games.I don't know if I opned a door for you but I sure hope I put you in front of one.

I was and still am an over achiever because I wasted so much time in my life. In high school, I got terrible grades and didn't participate in any clubs. Soon I figured out that I was going no where fast so I got my act together in college. I got in a lot of clubs, won several speech competitions, National Honor Society and National Dean's List. My grades were good and my parents were proud. I finally knew what it was like to be better than someone else and it felt good. I do know that it is not nice to look down on people because if you think about it, there is always someone in the world who is better than you or smarter than you.
I didn't discover I could sing until college. It gets me a lot of attention and compliments, but of course there are others who can sing me under the table. So I try to remain humble, remembering that my gifts and talents come from God and they are there to help and encourage others.

If you desire to you will. It is a projection from your care givers be be that which they could not achieve for themselves . It is a form of self judgement and self abuse. there needs to be an allowing of self to be all that it can be without persecution. There is no such thing as perfection in all of creation. If there was nothing would chance. The only constant in all of creation is change. Constant improvement is admirable yet not required. When we judge others we are judging our selves. that is why your enemy is your best friend they are showing that which you least like about yourself so you can heal yourself. All of this world is an illusion in a time and space that is of nonexistence. Are you dreaming the dream of dreaming? Feel the Truth of this and call me in a millennium.
