we cant remember all of our nightly dreams because our short term memory is off well we are sleeping... often times you remember dreams you were having when you wake up in a certain stage of the dreaming process. I feel that i remember things that are more important or huge events in my life... Remembering what you ate last week is pointless and you put no thought into remembering it at the time...

You actually never forget anything. But your mind just prioritises your memories in order of the things you use most often. I can't remember the exact facts but if the conscious part of your mind was continually sifting through all the sights, smells and sounds you'd experienced in your life you'd hardly be able to carry out your next voluntary movement.
By filing all the unnecessary stuff away, it keeps your brain cells free and responsive enough to allow you to do the stuff you need to do right now to survive... ie: if you smell your toast burning then you remember immediately what the problem is and why its happening, however, you may take a long time to recall the smell of a particular type of flower.

for me that is simply is it important to remember what you ate or remember what you did.eating is something you do every day while a special event , something that doesn't happen every day is more important. we forget our dreams, because they have the ability to show us the truth. about ourself about, our situation, something we may not be ready to know. Be patient when the time is right not before not after everything will be revealed, told. we remember the most important things to us, their is probably no juck-memory. The brain has a capacity too. that is why.

The stuff we remember from last year are important things to us. The small stuff we forget. Dreams are subconscious, and they only pass through the conscious when we're calm enough, so when we regain that outward attention, all the brainpower going to contact the subconscious is lost and we're at a mental disadvantage again. that's why we forget our dreams.

It might have to do with your short term memory. Some people have a superb long term memory, but have short term memory equivalent to ****, like me.
