Well, I guess many scholars have tried, and got all confused, which has caused many wars and unhappiness...
but if we just apply some simple common sense,
surely it's not beyond our intelligence?

Seems counterintuitive, but if someone is constantly treated well because of looks and then dropped after someone gets to know them (not bc of bad personality, but just bc they were known on a shallow level initially), is this worse than being average looking?

Accordingly, there are very few college degrees among Scientologists. Cruise and Travolta are both high school dropouts. Obviously, Kirstie Alley and Julliette Lewis are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. Is this true across the board?

This was inspired by reflections on a question posted elsewhere and this really seemed the most appropriate venue for it. Sorry.

Anyway, growing up, being into manga and anime and learning Japanese and also finding that several of the female math geeks happened to be Asian and later finding the exchange students to be a studious, focused crowd, I dated several Asian women when I was younger. I also occasionally heard suspicions from people (male and female) that this represented some sort of "submissiveness" thing. This couldn't have been further from the truth, e.g. I don't think someone who says "I like sexy, beautiful, obedient submissive woman. men are proud intelligent superior being" wants a woman who can correct him on his understanding of the Axiom of Reducibility in Set Theory. (Not saying "all Asians are good at math", just in this case.)

Take a recent case of "sexual harassment" in a Hagerstown, Maryland, elementary school. Now, sexual harassment is serious business. But what if I told you the suspect in this case was still trying to master the alphabet? Last December a five-year-old boy pinched the behind of a girl in his kindergarten class and was cited for harassment. As the boy's father told a local newspaper, "He knows nothing about sex."

But school officials said that the pinch fell under the Maryland Department of Education's definition of sexual harassment and that a tough response would be a learning experience for the child. The incident will stay in the young boy's file for as long as he remains at the school. And he's not even the first to be treated this way: According to Maryland state data, 15 kindergartners were suspended for sexual harassment in the 2005-2006 school year.
