I'm writing an essay about the sideof us that we was humans usually conceal in order to find acceptance. I need some examples to back this statement up.

I only have 1 example so far, which is that guys don't usually cry in public or cry at all, so that they will be accepted in society.

I have worked so incredibly hard during college (nursing school) and have prepared myself as best as I could but I am still very nervous and insecure while in the hospital (during clinicals). Most of what we did was book work, so the college hasn't prepared my greatly for hand-on stuff. Granted, I'm learning as I go, but how can I at least talk to myself to get that inner confidence so I don't feel miserable while working the floor? (most of the nurses and docs. are great, but honestly, some are jerks) Help. I need a motivational speech...LOL

I'm just curious, what this dream might mean :

I was walking back from my college, down toward the main walkway infront of the Social & Behav. Sci. College. It was dark, and the silhouettes of cats and `possums was all I could make out. When I finally turned onto the main walkway I stopped dead in my tracks. Just up ahead, where the pigeons usually perch was a giant owl. My heart sank some, and not wanting to deal with it or disturb it I turned on my heel to walk in the opposite direction. There was another however on another perch just down the walkway, I felt surrounded and panicked. I dropped my things and ran off the walkway into the grass from where I'd just come. All the little silhouettes of animals fleeing as I rushed through branches that hung low. I hadn't run very far before I felt myself being lifted up off the ground. An owl had gotten me, it had chased after me and as it lifted me up I could see the top of the concrete walkway. Then I awoke.

i'm 14 years old, soon to be 15. i'm 5'1 and 80 pounds. i'm really skinny and short and abercrombie kids is the only place that fits me. so i shop there even though the workers act like sh*t to me, giving me dirty looks and the ppl that shop there too. so what if i'm asian and i'm not white? sure, i may be a little nerdy but why are they being so mean to me about that? nobody's perfect, ok? they need to get that straight in there heads. ppl suggested me other places to shop but most things dont fit and arent that pretty for me. like at abercrombie kids there are so many cute choices that fit just right on me. i hab social anxiety so its hard to ignore the stares and i end up crying and ruining my day/week

Why do you think third world countries are third world countries? Why are they poverty stricken? Why did they not become wealthy like industrial nations? (Do not respond with an answer like technology, why do we have technology and them not? Money? Why do we have money and them not?)

If you're male:

Would you rather all men in the world other than you die, or all women in the world die?

If you're female:

Would you rather all women in the world other than you die, or all men in the world die?

Why would you prefer your decision?

Remember to state your sex with your answer.

I know of some feminists who are in favor of substantive equality. (i.e.; lowered standards for physically weaker groups (women/handicaps/elderly), etc.)

Is substantive equality true equality though? What is your opinion on it?

to be an idealist and realist at the same time? Or would you just be considered a nut?

I, personally, have been called a liberal hippie, a communist, and an idealist. And they're are true. I wish for the exact meaning of equality throughout the world. All the good things that could ever be, would be. But i know that's its not possible. No one is willing to give up there valuables, someone always has to be greater than someone else. So what the hell am i?

. . . eh. . . bare with me, i'm not the smartest person in the world, but this is the category i'ma put it under.

This is a statement I heard very often in the news nowadays. For most people who are not subprime mortgage borrowers, lower house price means one has to save less to buy a house in the future. Isn't that a better situation? Why should they spend less? Probably this crisis will affect many construction workers. But how many people are working in construction industry.

I woke up thinking that I still had the baby, but I realized it was a dream. Even after that I felt odd. There was no father, in my dream I think I knew it had a father, but he never entered into the dream.

OK. I'm reading this book "Lily" (very sad BTW) and in it the main characters Mother calls the cops on the Dad and says he beats her...thing is she is drunk and he NEVER laid a hand on her, the cops see she is drunk but because she is injured (she hurt herself by being falling down drunk) they arrest him anyway and say he will have to plead his case in court.
This book is fiction but I know art imitates life so I have to ask....is this true?? Could that really happen?

hate for men?
Not to go in details here--had abusive father, and nearly raped by a date I just met. No good male role models in life. I know it's no excuse, but how do I overcome this hate for men. I trust in God and know He can help me.

I've already went to counseling and wrote a journal, but it hasn't helped much.
Anyone out there who is in similar situation or suggestions needed.

2007-11-04 05:45:28 · 18 answers · asked by Anonymous in Psychology

its starts out with my in the woods, I find a small bird, grab it and break the wing, then it turns into my cat(with wiings) and walks away. Then it chagnes to me being in some weird old house with a bunch of other people, fish hooks are stabbed through everyones mouths and we're being dragged up the walls.
all the people were dirty and scared looking, as we were pulled higher a man fell and we heard him hit the ground

it wasn't really a nightmare, I wasn't scared but it was just weird, whats this mean? I love animals, I would never hurt them so why did I break a birds wing in the dream?

I am a little (more) depressed. There are many things going on in my life right now, and all those situations ask for actions from me. Basicly nobody can help me (there would be one person, but she won't). I feel like a person who can't swim, who just got kicked in deep waters. I feel so uncapable right now. I do not know any solution and I'm scared. What can I do to make me get over the depression, to loose all this stress? How can I relax?

Say you have a guy friend and you know there's this attraction between you. Lets say that you have to move to another state shortly after you meet but you guys keep in touch over chat...not a lot but once every couple of weeks and he flirts telling you he's falling for you. Say you catch up with each other when you're back for work and actually stay with him one night, even get close like kissing but not sex. You don't talk about your feelings as you have to go back next day but he contacts you a while later and you get on..but don't discuss the kiss. I've heard that if a guy keeps in contact with a girl he has kisses that he is interested in her as more than a friend? Guys opinions really appreciated here please. (its a difficult situation due to heavy work loads and long distance).
