...& if so, were radical feminist works discussed?

...& if so did the professors speak about the radicals with clear signs of disapproval?

Was it clear to you that radical feminists were a dark spot on the feminist movement & their sexism should be avoided?

Were their actions at all explained away with sexism about "the patriarchy?"

Considering that the falling dollar for the past two years has NOT in fact stoked inflation, why do pundits keep saying that the falling dollar will cause inflation? Do these same people still believe the world is flat?

in a lot of my dreams i end up driving some kind of vehicle (cars, bicycles, etc.) and losing control of it. sometimes i crash into something, other times it's like the brakes have gone out, sometimes it's just like i'm hydroplaning and eventually the car stops. i never die and i don't seem to be injured after the crash or whatever. this part of my dream is just that, a "part"/not the focus of the dream. what does it mean?

a feminist is an advocate of equality for women. Are you, yourself, not a feminist??

Not, I am =not= a feminist, I'm more interested in equality for BOTH men and women alike. Why can't feminists understand equality means equality, NOT selective equality?

I need an explanation for what a group can gain by doing this?

Details: A group of people who you compete against start excluding you from the group. You win. They lose most of the time. I have no idea if it has to do with me winning but i think that is part of it. What does the group gain from excluding and ridiculing me?

There seemed to be people in other thread that involved taking responsibility for something as simple as outing sexist bigots... that thought feminists shouldn't take ANY responsibility for distancing themselves from radicals.

So this begs the question:

If feminists aren't responsible to ensure radicals have no place in the mainstream, WHO IS responsible?

Anyone?

If the NAACP had many anti-white members that were very vocal about it & even wrote books about it, would the leaders of the NAACP have a responsibility to make sure they were outed as racists & sent packing?

Or would it be someone else's responsibility? Would the NAACP be able to say: "well, not everyone here is like" that & expect that to stick?

The responsibility falls somewhere. If not on the feminists, then on who?

Should we really be holding to account the views of moderate feminists for the hardline attitudes of the radical fringes?

Is any constructive purpose served in alienating positive, constructive, pro male feminist posters by stereotyping them as man haters?

Doesn't such behavior just put them on the defensive and set up conflict which achieves nothing worthwhile?

Is any constructive purpose served by besieging Feminists in this forum?

I do wonder, increasingly, after just a couple of weeks posting on GW&S, that certain female posters will spare no opportunity to denigrate men, belittle the rights of fathers, dismiss the effects of positive discrimination, trivialize male genital mutilation and so on.

Such behavior seems most similar to me, to the Angry Harry crowd who legitimize domestic violence, trivialize rape, think women should be barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen.

In short - the radical fringes seem to have more in common with each other than the rest of us, so I ask...

Are some feminists becoming the very thing the fought against?

I'm a single woman in her mid 40s and without children. I had spent a long time with one guy and we broke up a couple of years ago. As luck has it, I look a lot younger than my years and am frequently taken as a 30 year old. I also take good care of myself by keeping fit and eating very well. Because of this I am often asked out by guys in their twenties. The problem is, I am often attracted to them too. You might say 'what problem'? Ok, true, if an attraction is mutual why not go for it but in reality, I feel a bit insecure about the level of maturity of these guys and usually turn them down. I am not really attracted to men in my age group so I feel frustrated at this situation. I want to date a guy who is able to have a stable long term relationship with me. I fear that these 20 somethings are just looking for a fling or sexual experience with an older woman. Can these relationships really work..like real love? Or will the want a young girl for a baby etc?

"The gender wars in education are heating up again. Too much of the current dialogue on the education of girls and boys has the sound of a prizefight. In one corner are those who say that boys, not girls are shortchanged in school. In fact, they say, the attention paid to girls has harmed boys. In the other corner are those who contend that boys are fine and that girls are the ones with the real problems". The bell rings and the two sides come out swinging, each with its own set of statistics to prove not only that their side is the truly shortchanged, but that it is the fault of the "other side."

What is going on here? How did we get to this point?
