Auditory hallucinations (e.g., hearing your name called out by a deceased person) are indicative of psychoses.

You would be wise to schedule a complete workup with a psychologist and/or psychiatrist.

If you are actually hearing voices - that is, they sound like real sounds, not just thoughts in your head - you should schedule an appointment with your doctor - soon. Or else ask for a referral to a counselor. It may be nothing, or it may be serious. But a trained medical expert needs to make that determination, not someone with a modem and a few minutes to spare.

People who have had a close relationship with someone often feel the presence of their dead loved one or hear them calling their name. These ideas may be precipitated by memories. As long as you do not think the voice is telling you to do things and you decide to follow it, you should be fine. Honor your mother's memory. She is trying to guide you to be the best person you can be through your conscience. Be good to yourself and be good to others and show the love your mother had for you to others.
