do they empower or hurt women?

2007-10-19 06:20:11 · 23 answers · asked by Anonymous in Gender Studies

I am in love with the woman that I call my wife, and I am in love with my three year old son (not in a sick twisted way as some will probaly think when they read this), they are everything that makes my world go 'round.
I came from a very disfunctional home (as did my wife - she deals with her issues better than I do), and think that coming from where I did is part of my problem. I never really learned how to be productive with my anger instead of distructive. I have NEVER laid a hand on either of them with ill intentions - I'm not a violent person. My anger reveals itself in the form of words that are hurtful- I am so tired of hurting them; to be honest, I think I hurt myself more than I hurt them. There is no reason why they should feel like they are treading on thin ice in our own home. I don't want to hurt them anymore and am afraid of my wife leaving me. It is with a heavy heart and soiled concience I have come here for some advice with my anger issues.

Honestly.. what do you truely believe goes on in a mans head when it comes to sex. In regard to.. the reasons we want it, who we want it from and why...

I'm curious to see how well women understand men and how intune they are with what men want. Either a lot of women don't know or don't care.

So lets have it ladies...

I think it is ridiculous to believe that people who evolved in completely different parts of the world all would be exactly the same. If you look around, it's clear that some races are better at some things than others, I won't get into them though, we all know them. It's also clear by simply the way we look, from the proportions of some body parts to others, to the way we build muscle, we are all different, and you're a brainwashed idiot if you think we're not. Why is research that attempts to show this considered racist? If we have obvious visual differences, why can't we have mental and biological differences? Why is society so sensitive to this subject?

I was browsing through GWS and came upon this quote:

"I would have been happy had I been born at least 50 years ago. Women had opportunities back then--it's just that decades ago, a woman wasn't belittled for being a housewife."

Indeed the terms stay-at-home wife, mother, housewife have a negative connotation in the western world today because of feminist propaganda. Why do feminists diminish and degrade the women our society is built upon and by? How do they feel about hurting the very group whose rights they allegedly protect?

When I think of my high school days, I do miss them, but there were times I would talk to my mother after school about the constant teasing. I am not afraid to admit it used to make me tear up then, and now I just get mad thinking about it.

I don't play the blame game, but now that I'm 27, I feel that high school shaped my personality to what it is today. I'm now an introverted p***k...Actually, thats a bit harsh. I am an introvert: my mind is constantly 'scanning' a situation or I listen to something, but I never say much, if anything.

That alone I feel has indirectly shaped my professional life (I always sold myself short, and never spoke up), and my personal / love life (my self worth, confidence, esteem is low. I've never looked at myself in high regard).

I rarely go out, and I am uncomfortable in social settings. I don't care for bullies that abuse physically or verbally. I see myself beating the sh*t out of them at this reunion in my mind. I'm still hurt. Should I go?

Hey guys, I asked a doom-and-gloom question and decided to delete it because I don't want to be "that girl". You know, the sad girl that others think is playing the role of "victim" (even though I'm not)?

So I will ask a better question.
What is the best thing that ever happened to you? Career? Marriage? Moving someplace cool? Traveling someplace cool?
Or just tell what makes you happy. Be specific or general.
Thanks!

I saw a man running along the train track something small and precious in his hand until the last bit of energy he had finally disabled him from running anymore. He was so very determined spiritually to run until he could to deliver this precious thing to somebody who was on this train. This precious thing in his hand was something that was so precious to his most fondest friend who died because of it ironically. He was so determined to run until his legs won't let him run anymore and almost when he ran out of the last energy he had, his strong spiritual determination to do deliver this thing in his hand for his friend made the spirit of the dead friend to receive and start running for him. It was almost like passing a baton (in track) to the spirit of his fondest friend and the friend running for him. This was done in a slow motion, I could hear the panting of him as he ran and could see the spiritual determination on his face. When he passed the baton to the hand of his friend, the image of the act was so clear and illuminating and also emotional to me. It zoomed into the two hands of the friends and after passing the baton, the spirit of his friend just started to run and that's when my alarm went and I opened my eyes. I had the most extraordinary sensation and was almost stunned for a moment for the image was so clear and was done in a slow motion to emphasize the image. Then a second after somebody I had been dating but hasn't ask out yet gave me a morning wake up call....What could this dream mean? Is it trying to tell me something? I cannot get it out of my mind.

I've been reading some comments from feminists on certain questions. A lot of the responses seem to assume that a husband will almost always do one of the following:

a) Abuse you.
b) Rape you.
c) Divorce you.
d) Become unemployed and lazy.

I'm wondering why some feminists seem to believe that most husbands are going to do one of the previous? Why make the exception the rule when setting your path in life?

For awhile now, maybe about 6 months or so, I will dream about racoons attacking me. The attacks are weird because the racoon will come after me faster than anything I've ever seen and it'll attack me and sometimes I can sense the pain coming from it. One time in a dream I was with my friend and the racoon was closer to her yet chased after me while I attempted to run. I had a dream again last night about a racoon, and while the racoon was chasing after me I heard my mom yelling (she was no where in sigbht in the dream), "You gotta watch out for those racoons Ashley because once they get you they won't let go." These dreams really disturb me and I end up waking up out of breath and crying because they're so overwhelming. I dont believe I'm phhobic of racoons, but now that the dreams have started I somewhat am. I usually dream these racoon-attacking dreams maybe once every couple of weeks and in ALL of them they are chasing after me and they're fast, and they usually bite my neck. Ideas
