My husband is studying anthropology, and I am currently editing his assignment regarding the evolution of the human brain and it's relationship to the development of culture.

He wrote: "Queensland has the highest skin caner rate in the world. This is due to those currently living in Queensland not having evolved here. If natural selection was left to select those that had darker skin then over time the people of Queensland would progressively get darker."

It just occurred to me that this can't be true. Why?

At what age do white people get skin cancer as a result of sun damage? Usually after the age of 30. Since we reach puberty at around age 12, and many cultures in the past have begun reproducing at this age, most adults over thirty would have already had many children by the time they came down with skin cancer.

Those adults who died from skin cancer would have reproduced long before this malady killed them. Hence, how could natural selection account for skin colour?

Last night I had a dream that two of my family members (one who is deceased) and her daughter?
were dressed like pilgrims. Pilgrims from the colonial times, like plymouth rock pilgrims. They were laying in bed in my childhood home watching tv, covered up together and I said to them.."your dressed like pilgrims" and they just laughed and I woke up...any ideas on what this means? I've had some strange dreams before..but this one takes the cake.

extreme jealousy over ones bf/gf/spouse - examples : not wanting her/him to speak to a member of the opposite sex,getting jealous and angry if they remark someone else is attractive - even someone off of tv! always thinking she/he is "looking" at someone else,avoiding crowds/places because someone attractive may be there to turn their head..... things of that nature. what would make a person be that paranoid and jealous to the point of insanity? why would a person be that way,how can they change? and is that behavior "acceptable" in anyway ?

btw - no cheating etc caused the behavior .. the person is just like that,mentally jealous - if that makes sense.

also - i have thought it could be a low self esteem - give me your thoughts and elaborate on it.

i was in living room and early morning, my brother was baking brownies so he was in the kitchen the whole time. his food starting burning eventually and then it lit on fire. he was by the oven talking on the phone with his friend and didnt even notice!! but luckily i did so i kept telling and shouting at him but he didnt even look at me and he kept telling me to go away and stop bothering him

how can he not know that?? he was there the whole time!

Every few weeks or so, I have awful dreams about my first love coming back into my life and trying to wreck my marriage. In these dreams, neither my first love, nor my husband (who I love beyond compare) act like I know they would act in real life. My first love would never do that, and my husband would never be a jealous freak and try to fight for me. But these dreams keep coming back. I wake up in tears, and it even takes me awhile to gain any comfort from my husband, because my mind is still stuck in the dream, where he was horrible, rather than in reality, where he will hold me gently all night long if that's what it takes for me to feel better. I hate these dreams. Does anyone know of a way to make them stop? or what may be causing them?

1. How is it that evolution has so much credibility when there is no known cross speciation fossil to colaborate it's theory. Where is the missing link(S). Not just man, but any species in any kingdom, phylum, genus order?

When I was younger I never thought that men and women hated each other or anything like that, I just saw it as one group of people being girls and another group of people being girls. But after being on Yahoo Answers, it seems like men and women (especially in the U.S.) hate each other, well I guess it seems more like women hate men. Based on some of the questions and answers, I get the impression that women don't want men, or don't want anything to do with them ... but I can walk into a mall, or go to the beach and see men and women with each other, getting along, couples holding hands, etc, and I'm 17 and I have lot's of friends who are girls and we get on great, but then I come to Yahoo Answers and it seems the opposite.

So am I making a mountain of out of a molehill (comparing the questions/answers on yahoo answers to the "real world") or do women and men really not like each other?

When things are average...not really bad not really good. What makes you decide to move on? Either a job, a relationship, a friendship, a certain obligation. I don't know anything. Say you have something good-more like okay, with a future thats really give or take. Your bored-not going anywhere how do you know when? when its really not that bad of a thing? Gut feeling??

my name is joe geil im 15 years old and im a black belf from the american acadamy of martial arts tia jitsu i never understood my anger problems its on so many different levels i got into a fight one time and broke a guys arm and leg and got exspelled from every school in my county now i have to drive a hour away from my house to go to my school with 56 people in the whole school but their i knocked a guys jaw out of place for hitting on my girl and i just dont understand i had a great childhood and im a nice funny guy and have tons of friends but i just have a split personality this other side of me that just destroys when i get angry and being a black belt dosent help because i know all these things to hurt people and i dont get pissed exstremely easy but when i do i just cant controle myself can somebody tell me what my problem is

Everytime she talks to them, she changes her mind. She's even starting to change her values for what her friends say and this affecting our relationship because what at the begining was wrong for her and I agreed on that now it is not that wrong.

She has told me lies and when I find out, she says she's just not telling me everything.

She has told me that I have told her lies and I have to mature when I ask her what she exactly means she can't answer.

I suspected of her friends' influence and last week my suspects were proven.

I know it is up to her to follow her friends or not. But she has been trough many hard things lately and she's not stable at all now and I've been patience but I'm through with this.

I haven't done anything, I just try to stay away form her friends and be polite but not friendly when they're around.

Please Jennifer J, give me a hand on this, thanks.
