After closing down a business that wasn't going anywhere, I took a job at large company while I figure out my next venture. There are so many people (blue and white collar) here that have been here for over 30 years that I started thinking that maybe the average person isn't looking to excel to higher levels and is just content with working for retirement. I also don't mean just financial greatness, it could be greatness in art, service or anything that sets a person apart from the rest.

Do you find it disturbing when you cannot immediately assign a gender to a person that you are interacting with?

How, if you are dealing with this person on a professional basis (in English), do you get around the lack of a non-gender specific address? Do you put it off and be discourteous, hoping they clue you in, or do you (be discourteous) and ask?

(Judges, Police Officers, and some public officials have gender neutral ways to address them, but normal folks do not)

I've been in Japan for years. I came to the States for 3 days on business. I could'nt wait to go home. Just store clerks, restaraunt workers in Japan compared to the States are superb. Very polite and make you feel at home. The same as people you meet on the street. But in the States you don't feel that same hospitality.

I still love America

For the past 38 years I have been running it over and over in my mind. I loved it for the first 22 years or so, but lately, it's really bothering me.

I am very optomistic i feel everything happens for a reason but over the last 2 years things have happened that would test the strongest of minds. Do you ever say to yourself it can't get much worse then it does? I've stopped saying that sentence has I now feel i'm tempting fate or it doesn't make any difference if i do. My life in the 3 weeks: (similar to last 2 yrs)
The car stopped dead to be scrapped in middle of roundabout
My nan got rushed to hospital and now cannot walk
The washer broke down
My mum discovered she had breast cancer
My Godparent (great Aunt) (on dads side) dies
The paternal father of my 7year old daughter decided to suddenly get in touch (never once bothered) causing stress between my partner who's brought her up since 5 months, myself and my daughter.
My great aunt died leaving my nan and mum traumatised.
My 9year old neice on Sun was playing for no reason stopped breathing she is no longer with us
When will it end enough is enough please asvice????

Fathers spend less time with their kids, but abuse them more often. Why might this be?

Figure 4 Perpetrators of physical abuse of children
The graph shows the nature of the relationship between the family member who perpetrates physical abuse and the child victim. The data show the percentage of perpetrators and are for substantiated cases of physical abuse in Canada in 1998. Only cases where the perpetrator was a relative are included. (These represent the great majority of all cases.)

I would try and make a swift and quiet exit with my loved ones and make a 911 call from the neighbor's house. Is this the best plan? What if the exit is not so easy to do?

Think about it. Depressed people would never know that they weren't normal and 'happy' if they didn't see people who were actually happy. Then they think, 'Hey, I'm not like that.' This leds to thoughts of suicide, etc because they realize that they're not happy.

I hope I didn't offend anyone. I know that depression is a serious condition. I'm not trying to make light of it; I'm just curious if anyone else's mind works the same way mine does.

I'm finding the job market is dismal if you have to make a certain ammount to make ends meet. I have been looking at the job markets in serveral states and I find it is the same everywhere. People that have at least a college education should at least be able to pay their bills, but I find it more and more if your able to even find a job if you do not have one, it is not enough to even cover your basic needs. What are your thoughts on this?

Why do I love you
But hate you the same
These human feelings
Cause nothing but pain
I hate everything that you do
I have a shattered heart
You have had your share of gossiping
Throwing me off to the side
I may have been the outcast
But I wasn't the one who lyed
I feel like I am responsible to take care of you
But what everyone doesn't realize is that I have burdens too
You took away my life
Those years I always will regret
You shoved your words into my brain
Until my temper shook
I thank you for making me tougher
I'll show you emotional pain
And this time you will tremble
And slowly go down in vain
Why do I love you
But hate you all the same
I think I have a choice to make
To live my life again

Gender issues
‘The high preponderance of male patients in studies of narcissism has prompted researchers to explore the effects of gender roles on this particular personality disorder. Some have speculated that the gender imbalance in NPD results from society's disapproval of self-centered and exploitative behavior in women, who are typically socialized to nurture, please, and generally focus their attention on others.'
