build a lot of prisons. i believe it is one of the fastest expanding areas in the US economy. though technically it might be more efficient and economical just to shoot them that way they don't clog up the legal system.

The unemployment situation has nothing to do with 'overpopulation'....being employeed is basically just providing a service for someone else. They must be willing to pay you for your service. So technically, the more people there are, the more jobs there should be....i think the unemployment situation has more too do with education & personal motivation (face it, there are many people who just choose not to work or they just choose not to further their education....and that pretty much makes them useless to society).

Both underemployment and overpopulation tend to be localised situations in reaction to localised circumstances. You will never reduce Detroit's unemployment by instituting reproductive controls in Phoenix.

The obvious answer to your question is job creation. But, the amount of jobs in any economy is not, and should not, be a concern. I suppose to get what you want, you could great a bureaucracy. But, those are inefficient. If you want an efficient economy, and, in this instance we are dividing economies as if there's more than 1, in reality, there's the only one, you should make every job count, not count every job.

Why do you think we have a over population problem.
The problem is lack of education
Most of the employed have a good education
I travel for a living I see help wanted banners coast to coast
I do not know why we have any unemployment problems at all
look where the real problem is at

the problem with , the employment situation, is people ,don't wish to work for crappy wages, there jobs every where,
if you really want to work, you can work .
if you want to make a really good living , then no, there not to many real job s out there , we have killed off the work force, by not useing the younger people they used to work for 5 years, plus, at a set rate , now thats all gone ,
its a mess, and will take a long time to take care of it

Become self employed and provide a special service {you might have to go to school to specialize in a type of service}
or create or grow legal products that have value to others.
