I've been in Japan for years. I came to the States for 3 days on business. I could'nt wait to go home. Just store clerks, restaraunt workers in Japan compared to the States are superb. Very polite and make you feel at home. The same as people you meet on the street. But in the States you don't feel that same hospitality.

I still love America

I am American. I was in the military in Japan and stayed here when I got out.

Not all Americans are rude. Most Japanese people are rude too. They just act like that cuz they have to for their job.

Its just different cultures, and there are many things that could have been the problem, something you said, did, didnt do etc... japan is your home, so no matter where you went you would always like it better. Same thing with me, no matter where i go, my state/city is always better. I would like to go to japan and compare the two but that just isnt going to happen.

I think it depends on what part of America you're talking about. Of course the people in Japanese stores are seemingly nice to you... they want your money! It doesn't mean they are actually nicer people. Go to touristy places in the US and you'll probably experience a lot of "nice" workers too.

I live in the South, and I experience hospitality and niceness on a daily basis. Please don't make biased generalizations about the USA based on your own experiences. There are enough people that hate us already without you contributing to it.

That is because Japan is held at higher standards. The same question can be asked but about America's crime rating compared to Japan's. And most American's lives are not the grandest, so they take it out on other people.

I think its all a matter of what one percieves as rude and polite. You are talking about two vastly different cultures. Americans act the way Americans expect them to, Japanese act as Japanese are expected to act. I feel that neither group is overly rude or polite, they just follow their behavioral guidelines from their respective cultures. As to your next trip to the States, if there is one, I can only offer cliche as advice. "When in Rome..."

There are some americans, that are just rude in general. Not every american thinks about respect. Some americans get rude, at certain times whe they get mad.

whatever. its rude and ignorant to stereotype entire groups of people. im american and i volunteer downtown where tourists are the primary customers. i absolutely love tourists and i think foreigners have the hottest accents ever and im always asking them what they think about america and i think its sad when people like you, the minority im hoping, make rash assumptions about an entire nation. its ridiculous.

as far as making you feel at home....maybe thats just because youre used to it. VERY different cultures but i dont think most americans are rude and ive lived here my entire life - 18 years and counting.

and if youre going to make ignorant assumptions about my country then keep your *** in japan. end of your problems.

I've lived and worked with Asians in Las Vegas, in the hotels, my wife has also. They are very rude, arrogant, high strung and impolite people I've met. They stick together what ever happens and seem tot think they are a gift to the people.

They will not talk to the white people or have anything to do with them, they are a cast among themselves. You cannot make friends with them. Outside the hotels, I don't know.

That's funny because I've found a lot of Asians to be very rude in the U.S.
