For me it means knowing that I've done the right thing, that I've done the best I can, that I have been honest, that I have nothing to hide, that I kept up to my own standards.

Self Respect to me is taking care of myself emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Making good decisions to better my body and my mind. Keeping clean and eating a balanced diet. Standing up for my beliefs. So much more, as well.

self respect to me is never having to shirk away or hide from anyone that you knew from the past. an easy way to tell if you have it is to imagine someone you know being exactly like you. would you want to hang out with that person? if not, you probably don't have much self respect. However, before you can respect or like yourself, you have to change yourself into someone you would like. This to me is an ongoing process that lasts our entire life.

Self respect. Never giving someone else power over your dignity. To stand up and BE counted. To know that even if no one else cares, you owe it to yourself to speak up if you have an opinion.

Hi Friendliest Kim!!
Perhaps, if you will allow me (in reference to your directive for using our own words), William-that-Verbose-Bard-from-England-Shakespeare, summed it up best: "At least to thine own self, be honest!" I can only have respect for people who are honest in the portrait they protray towards the outside world, and likewise, therefore, expect the same from myself: If I am not honest in my dealings with others, how can I expect them to be honest towards me, and how can I then show respect towards myself. . . ?
