Econometrics professor said when selecting the order of the AR proccess in testing for unit roots with ADF in Microfit, one should select the mode with the *highest* (as opposed to the lowest, as usually) value of the Akaike Info Criterion of the Schwarz criterion, because Microfit performs some extra calculation that makes it assign a higher value to the regression that would normally carry the smallest.

How true is this? Help much appreciated and please cite your sources.

I used to be super organized--everything dated, numbered, highlighted, and in order. Everything had to be a at certain angle and perfect or else it would bother me. Now, I really don't care anymore. It's not neat, but it is not messy either. I just keep it so that it is acceptable. Also, I was very hard-working putting a lot effort into doing every assignment to the very best my my ability. Not only did the assignemnt, but I exceeded. Now I find my myself just doing enough to get by with at least a B. I still want A's but I'm so not doing my absolute best anymore. I definately have changed. All my teachers from last year thought that I was on target, always did my work and did it well, scored excellent on tests, etc. Now I think that my teachers this year have a different perspection of me. I think that even though I got satifcatory grades in their classes, they think that I could have done better. I really have been unlike myself. Why is this? Is it possible...

When I ask this, I DON'T mean: "If a person dies, what effect does it have on him/her?" I DO mean "If a person dies, what effect would if have on say, a friend?" It doesn't even have to be a close friend. What changes in behavior are we likely to see. Will it change that person forever, or will the effects vanish after a certain period of time?

I am specifically asking about how Jon Krakauer was changed as he witnessed the death of a dozen people on mount everest, but a general explanation will do.

Why is it that I forget peoples names easily?

I have a very difficult, foreign name, but people eventually learn it. I feel like a retard because I can not remember a simple American name like Mike. What the? I even forget the name of my close friends sometimes. How can I remember peoples names easily? I'm in my teens. Can it be that i let other things distract me at that moment? I should wear my glasses.

Why or why not?

"While working at a free clinic for drug addicts in Haight-Ashbury, Freudenberger noticed that the volunteers, when discouraged, would often push harder and harder at their jobs, only to feel as if they were achieving less and less. The result, in 1974, was the book Burnout: The High Cost of High Achievement.”

“Ask Cass why his clients are burning out, and his answer isn’t any different for a banker than it would be for a public-school teacher; there’s a gulf between what they expected from their jobs and what they got..So what does he tell them? “That happiness equals reality divided by expectations.”

For example, if your expectations are higher the realities of life then Happiness = Reality (10) / Expectations (20) = .5

If your expectations match the realities of life then Happiness = Reality (10) / Expectations (10) = 1

If your expecations are lower than the realities of life then Happiness = Reality (10) / Expectations (5) = 2 (Highest Outcome)

I am a victims advocate and I need to come up with events like career fairs and financial planning forums for our past and present victims. It gives us a chance to get into the community and advocate against domestic violence. It also gives us a chance to pass out liturature and information about our agency.

what are some self-defense mechanisms u have? for me, i noticed that whenever i feared rejection, i would create a persona for the person to reject that wasn't me, so that the person would be rejecting that creation and not me. but i regret now not giving the girl the chance to really know, even if it would hurt. is this mechanism healthy, and what are your mechanisms?
