Why is it that I forget peoples names easily?

I have a very difficult, foreign name, but people eventually learn it. I feel like a retard because I can not remember a simple American name like Mike. What the? I even forget the name of my close friends sometimes. How can I remember peoples names easily? I'm in my teens. Can it be that i let other things distract me at that moment? I should wear my glasses.

Maybe subconsciously you don't really care, since you normally don't forget things you care about. Right after you meet the person, try repeating their name during the conversation

ex: "Hi I'm Mike"

"Hi I'm (your name here), nice to meet you Mike."

Or you could associate a specific trait with the person you meet so that way when you see them the next time you can remember "Hey, that's Mike, he likes spaghetti" or something like that.

i don't remember peoples names easilly either. I usually only remember people who are really close to me and i see all the time. But what i like to do, is give all my friends nicknames based on personality or some event they had. It helps me remember them and it's fun! my nickname is macaroni for the yellow socks i like to wear a lot. :)

Names are arbitrary.
Look up mneumonics on the internet. It's those words games where you associate things to features fo the person, so you can remember the first few times, until it becomes natural.

Its easy to remember names and link them to faces. First you have to mentaly link the name with an object. As an example lets say the name is mike. ,,,,,,,imagine mike falling from his bike.. not any bike,a giant marshmallow bike.

You may be a visual memory type person. Try writing the person's name down when they first tell you what it is. That is what I do.

maybe u can make a nickname for them in your head by what they are like, then remember it that way. it helps me
