Why is it that in "victimless crimes" like prostitution and the sale of drugs, both parties are held criminally responsible and liable, wheras in the equally "victimless" crime of violating a price control (such as charging more for rent or paying less then the minimum wage), only the seller faces legal consequences?

for example, i have an INSANE psychological phobia of cockroaches. In 'my' worst torture nightmare, i see myself sitting bound at the ankles, wrists and head to a wooden chair (not unllike an old skool electric kind, but its just wooden, basic) just with ropes, but secure. The tormentor makes me open my mouth and keep very still, he place the cockroach on my tounge and i have to close my mouth & just remain super still while i can feel it's antennae and little legs tickilng as it moves around inside. AAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH i wanna scream, and i'm cringeing like crazy but if i tense up & move my tongue it'll be crushed, or it'll writhe around even more & then i'll lose control competely. after this he allows me to open my mouth & let it go, i can't spit tho cos you have to purse your lips, & i might leave behind a leg or antenna this way. i try to just open my mouth n let it drop out & it clings & i'm fiercly trying to shake my head which the tormentor has loosened from the rope. & yours?

How can it be that water, which is essential for life and therefore a "valuable" a thing as can be imagined, is so inexpensive relative to diamonds, which are used for nothing but decoration (and some non-essential uses such as cutting)?

Shouldn't a bucket of water be worth a few dozen diamonds?

This is meant to be a real real question. Nowadays it seems good manners, caring, and even love aren't enough, not to mention doing anything you would in your power for that special person. So perhaps I missed something so... what is it that woman want? Or is it that I just happen to be talking to the wrong ones...

I have borderline personality disorder, which they say causes me to be impulsive. In the last couple of months though, i have done things that I regret so much afterwards, like seconds after, because i don't think things out before i do them. Its not a problem with not thinking i guess, but my logic gets all screwed up and i make the wrong choices. I hate this, and I don't know what to do. These are BIG mistakes...the kind that could break someone's heart if he knew.

A doctor told me once (an MD) that i was toxic in a relationship, that i will eventually drive him crazy, he even told me that people who love people with BPD are known to kill themselves. That scares me...but I sleep with these guys and don't think about that kind of thing until its done. And I hate myself. And He'd hate me too, if he knew.

Am i toxic?
And what should i do?

I have heard that writing down your goals gives a greater chance of accomplishing them than if you do not. If you have found a good system for doing this please help me. If you have any links or books you can recomend on the topic I will appreciate it.

and i think that they are cool with me,they seem to stab me in the back. Now i'm naturally a complimenting person, even to those less fortunate, but for some reason people end up hating me even if i don't intend them to dos so.Could it be some sort of jealousy on their part Or is there something deeper behind it.I do tend to take thingsTOO seriously and am oversensitive,so that could also be a tur-off to people who are trying to joke around with me and lighten things up.Otherwise,i give people no reasons to hate me besoides being overemotional towards them at times.

Yeah i know it's an age old complaint, butwhy is it that whenever you think that things in life are going smooth sailing, something or someone comes along that keeps making you think that there's no hope? This is how my life has been the last 3 months. It's either perfect one month or rotten the next month with no middle ground.I don't have trouble staying focused, but when someone says something that pisses me off(even in a joking manner)or something happens that pisses me off,i take it as the end of the world and go through extremely disruptive patterns of thinking. This might be in part to being oversensitive and having a rough childhood, but it just seems like things are unbearable, especially when other parts of my life such as finances,or trying to find work,or relationships aren't up to par.In other words,a minor event that seems miniscule to someone else could add fuel to the fire.

I think it was done at the university of michigan where the rats ate each others brains of rats that already went through a maze. The rats that ate the rats brains that already went through the maze were able to complete the maze at a 50 percent faster clip than those that did not eat the previous generation's brains. Does anybody know more information on this story?

I've learnt alot from that book starting from how negativity can spoil us, to how worse human mind can ruin ones life. Staying purely present, staying absolute conscious in improving life sitations were explaing clearly.
1. You are not your thoughts. You are the awareness behind the thoughts. Thoughts are often negative and painful, yearning for or fearing something in the future, complaining about something in the present or fearing a matter from the past. However, the thoughts are not you; they are a construct of the ego. Awareness of your thoughts without being caught up in them is the first step to freedom.

2. Only the present moment exists. That is where life is (indeed it is the only place life can truly be found). Becoming aware of the 'now' has the added benefit that it will draw your attention away from your (negative) thoughts.

HAVE ANYONE TRIED THIS? ANY IMPROVEMENTS IN YOUR LIFE?

A mixed economy is one in which the benefits of capitalism are combined with an attempt to create a fair and equitable distribution of resources. All mixed economies rely on a state provided health care system in the belief that health care must be primarily owned, or at least tightly controlled by the government, if it is to operate in the public interest.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this conclusion?

what do you think about a person who you see walking down the street who can't make eye contact, walks with a bad posture, and looks nervous? would you find the person looking unattractive, ugly?i'm talking about me. i have social anxiety and go through this most of the time because i'm uncomfortable in my own skin around my others and people always say negative stuff about me that makes me feel down. I feel like if i can be myself than people might actually find me pretty because some people that i am comfortable around tell that i am pretty.
