I have been, too, with the holidays. You didn't say why, but you can e-mail me. Do something you enjoy. Exercise is good. Comedy, If you're religious, you can get some comfort there. You're not alone!

Are the reasons valid or imagined? Are the reasons transient or "permanent". The mind - your mind - is the one that can answer the questions I posed. However, try someone sensible that you can confide in e.g. a priest. Usually an impartial view can shed some light into why you are sad in an objective manner. I wish I can help. Unfortunately I cannot, except to say, good luck in whatever you do. There is always light at the end of a tunnel and looked at from a wider perspective, the world is a very nice place. Health, good friends and supportive family will see you through and I hope you have these in abundance. May God give you strength to carry on.

1) Accept your sadness. For the moment (like everything else in your world) it exists.

2) Having accepted it, recognize how yesterday you did not feel this way (last week, whenever) & how tomorrow (next week, etc.) you will also not feel this way. All feelings are temporary & changing.

3) Recognize that because feelings are temporary & changing, there is no reason to feel overly identified with them. In other words, you may feel sad, but you do not have to let the feeling dominate you - there is an element of choice available to you how to act, as some very good answerers have previously pointed out.

4) Focus on someone else, or something else more important than your feeling of the moment. It may not be easy at first but it works.

Peace,

;-)

Grieve over what it is that is making u feel so bad put it out of ur mind and sing happy tunes or listen to happy music. The longer u linger in whatever is making u feel so sad the longer for u to start to feel better.

hi.
first of all accept that u r sad (that u hav already done)
feel the sadness. cry if want to be. just live tht feeling.
try to reason out why this sadness, then try to fignure out the ACTUAL thoughts behind them
write those thoughts, if u want to
then say to urself that it is all right to feel sadness.
it is important to feel sadness, in order to feel good/ happiness.
when this ritual is over, get up sprinkle some water on ur face, b fresh, go in open space , breathe fresh air, look in the mirror n giv urself a broad smile. go out under the sun.. then actuall SAY TO URSELF LOUD tht u r now ready to get on with life....thanx god for ur sadness ... n start waiting/ feeling happiness...
cheeers...

Pray and ask God for his answers. Take a hot bath. Listen to calming music. Let yourself cry if you need to. Surround yourself with only positive people. Don't drink alcohol or take drugs.

Literrally get out of the hell hole and get moving. Go out, walk and enjoy the scenery around you, breathe fresh air, smell the green grass. Or meet up with some close friends to talk it out, having a listening ear helps.

This works: go run 3 miles. Force yourself to finish it without stopping.

Buy a Haagen Dazs, rent a good movie and invite some good friends that can make you laugh.

personally i take the big jump. i stand on a roof (must be at leas 5 stories high) and pretend to jump off by standing very close to the edge, closing my eyes, and visualizing death. This makes me very happy to be alive, and so - i become happy
