I saw a small owl (I would say 6-7 inches tall) that was all pale grey with a lighter colored facial disk. I have been trying to find something that looks like it online, but can't find anything with pictures....

Anyone have any idea what it might be, so that I have some idea which direction I should look in....

I have lived here 35 year and never seen an owl - so this is kinda neat, I would just like to figure out what it is....could it be a young version of something else? I have no idea how fast birds grow.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks a bunch

Do fish sleep? I'm talking about the ones that live in rivers. If they sleep, wouldn't the river just wash them out to the ocean?

a wild type fly is heterozygous for gray body color and normal wings is mated with a black fly that has vestigial wings. The offspring have the foloying phenotypic distribution:

wildtype: 778
black body vesitgial wings 785
black body, normal wings-158
gray body, vestigial wings-162

In another cross a wild type fly is heterozygous for gray body color and red eyes is mated wtih a black fly with purple eyes. the offspring are as follows:

wildtype: 721
black body, purple eyes: 751
gray body, purple eyes 49
black body, red eyes 45

Q: what fruit flies(genotypes and phenotypes) would you mate to determine the sequence of body color, wingsize and eye color geones on the chromose.

I have the answer has purple vestigial x hetero for p and v, but i'm not sure iff that is correct. please explain how you get the answer

In general, we believe the smaller the animal, the less intelligent. The larger the animal past the size of humans, the less intelligent (in general). Dolphins are smarter than Hippos that are smarter than Elephants.

I live in an area with huge blackbird populations during the fall. I have been part of massive shooting campaigns in order to reduce the populations. I have never, though, seen them eat acorns. Today I was outside underneath an oak tree as a flock of them were eating on the acorns. It was raining acorn fragments all over the place. I have never seen them go for acorns. Is this something new?

Okay I'm doing food web and it has to be on a forest. It has to be a tropical forest or a rainforest. I need an animal from that habitat that eat snakes.

I'm sure you've heard stories about dolphins saving people from drowning and shark attacks....
What is it that makes dolphins, unlike other sea creatures, sympathize with humans?

I really want to be a zookeeper. I wish I could volunteer at a zoo but you either have to be older or sign up for summer camp, and I am not going to sign up. Is there any way to get the experience of what a zookeeper does?
PS. Do you know of any good zookeeeper websites?

I don't know the answer to this quiz question, any ideas?

I found the asian elephant has a finger, it also has nails on the feet but my best guess so far is the intestine.

Any other suggestions?
