yes,actually they are egg-laying mammal and belong to the family of Monotremata. I heard also that they posses poison to sting their preys.

They used to have them in the zoo here. It is a marsupial that lays eggs, has a pouch, and has poison spurs and a duck-billed face.
Neighborhood vandals climbed the fence of the zoo and threw most of them into the lion cages to be killed there - now that is a platypus fact most people don't know..

The males are poisonous ...they have a venomous spur on one of their hind legs.........the only poisonous mammal in the world!
